I. SUMMARY OF POSITION:Directly responsible for the specification and design of all project's mechanical equipment for both stationary, rotating, and piping design.
II. RESPONSIBILITIES:- Develops metallurgy for piping and mechanical equipment
- Develops mechanical data sheets prepared in conjunction with Mechanical Engineers and the Process Engineering group
- Develops piping stress analysis utilizing Caesar software
- Works in conjunction with the piping group and suggests modifications to piping routing to reduce piping stress to acceptable levels
- Develops "Request for Quote" documentation
- Develops bid tabs and makes recommendations to the client for the purchase of mechanical equipment
- Develops mechanical engineering standards for use on capital projects
- Performs calculations for vessel design re-rating, nozzle loading, pump sizing, including motor horsepower and NPSH
- Writes "scope of work" documents for mechanical/piping design plans
III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- 5-10 years' experience specifying and designing mechanical equipment for both stationary and rotating
- Currently licensed in at least one US State as a Professional Mechanical Engineer
- Thorough and detailed knowledge of all mechanical equipment - pumps, heat exchangers, air coolers, furnaces, vessels, towers, tower internals, etc. for the petroleum industry sector
- Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
- Experienced in developing and managing schedules and budgets for engineering/design work
- Familiarity with API, ANSI, ASME, and NFPA codes
- Available for short-term travel
IV. REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:Reports directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager
V. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift to 40 pounds at times
• Periodic field work
