Full Job Description
Corvid Technologies is looking to add an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a passion for precision drafting, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), and Technical Data Package (TDP) creation. The engineer in this role will join our growing Lethal Effects team, working to design and produce next generation weapon systems for DoW customers.

The candidate in this position will bring a high Manufacturing IQ to bridge the gap between design concepts and the manufacturing floor. You will take 3D CAD models and transform them into flawless, manufacturable, and fully inspectable engineering prints using advanced GD&T capabilities. Successful candidates will understand the design process and communicate between the design team and manufacturing floor to ensure quality products are produced efficiently.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Manufacturing Print Creation: Convert complex 3D CAD assemblies and parts into clear, concise, and accurate 2D manufacturing drawings.
  • Apply GD&T: Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles (ASME Y14.5) to ensure components fit, function, and can be verified by Quality Assurance.
  • TDP Assembly: Compile comprehensive Technical Data Packages (TDPs) including PDFs, STEP files, DXFs, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and material specs for vendors.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Review designs for ease of machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, or casting, collaborating with design engineers to optimize prints.
  • Tolerance Stack-up Analysis: Perform worst-case and statistical tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure assemblies work smoothly.
  • ECO Management: Manage Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and maintain strict revision control over drawings and documentation databases.

Qualifications:
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar) and at least 3 years of professional experience focusing heavily on mechanical drafting, drawing creation, and engineering documentation
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or Autodesk Inventor
  • Strong working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 (or ISO equivalent) standards - GD&T certification (ASME GDTP-Technologist or Senior) is preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of common fabrication methods (machining, welding, molding, assembly) and how drawing tolerances impact manufacturing costs

Corvid benefits include:
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan via our generous 401(k) Matching
  • Medical Insurance via Blue Cross - including a PPO and High-Deductible offering (with company HSA contribution)
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) based on years of industry experience (not tenure)
  • Career Development and Continuing Education opportunities
  • Company provided life, long-term and short-term disability insurance
  • Incentive opportunities to reward strong performance and corporate growth
  • Attractive corporate facilities that include Lake Norman access, out-door activities (including grills) and more
