Your RoleAs a
Mechanical Engineer, you will provide technical expertise to support engineering, refurbishment and life-extension activities on critical nuclear systems and components.
You will be responsible for developing engineering solutions, supporting design modifications, resolving field issues and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Design- Perform engineering analyses, evaluations and design activities to support refurbishment and modernization projects.
- Develop and review engineering calculations, technical documentation and design deliverables.
- Prepare and support Engineering Change Control (ECC) packages and design modifications.
- Evaluate technical challenges and recommend practical engineering solutions.
- Ensure compliance with customer requirements, industry codes and regulatory standards.
- Apply sound engineering judgment to independently select and implement technical solutions.
Field & Project Support- Support field execution activities and resolve engineering issues during construction, installation and commissioning.
- Investigate field conditions and provide timely technical recommendations.
- Coordinate with project managers, site personnel and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Participate in troubleshooting, issue resolution and continuous improvement initiatives.
Technical Leadership- Contribute to the development of innovative solutions supporting the product lifecycle and replacement of existing technologies.
- Support strategic engineering initiatives identified by project teams, management and customers.
- Provide technical guidance and demonstrate informal leadership within project teams.
- Maintain and promote a strong nuclear safety culture and questioning attitude.
What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
- Minimum 4 years of engineering experience in nuclear, power generation, energy or other highly regulated industries.
- Experience in mechanical design engineering and Engineering Change Control (ECC) processes.
- Strong analytical skills and engineering problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
Technical KnowledgeExperience or working knowledge of:
- ASME B31.1 - Power Piping
- ASME B31.3 - Process Piping
- CSA B51 Part 1
- CSA N285
- Nuclear engineering standards and engineering design practices
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting nuclear refurbishment or life-extension projects.
- Experience working on Bruce Power, OPG or CANDU facilities.
- Existing Bruce Power security clearance.
- Experience supporting field engineering and construction execution activities.
- Advanced proficiency with engineering software tools relevant to the role.
