Join Our Team as a Mechanical Engineer at Epiroc!Work Type: Work Site: 2800 Zeeb Road, Dexter, MI 48130; Hybrid work within commuting distance. 40 hours/week.
Responsibilities: Execute design changes to improve performance, reduce cost, or resolve field issues. Lead planning, design, and execution of new product development projects in compliance with quality and regulatory standards. Conduct FEA on welded structures and validate improvements using strain gauge testing. Participate in structured VAVE workshops/CPI/NPI brainstorming sessions and lead smaller cost reduction initiatives. Support warranty investigations, lead root-cause analyses, and implement design fixes. Maintain accurate engineering documentation and ensure compliance with standards. Effectively collaborate with Global Engineering team on large scope projects that affect a large amount of SKUs. Develop testing plans and procedures for new product involving welded steel structures, hydraulic circuits, and wiring harnesses. Provide Technical guidance to junior engineers and cross functional project teams as required. Design and develop assembly jigs and fixtures for the operations team to ensure dimensional accuracy, repeatability and production efficiency. Develop weldments into cast components for high load, high wear applications and coordinate with suppliers on manufacturability. 10% domestic travel required.
Knowledge/Education: - Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, or related field and Four (4) years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer in commercial construction or heavy equipment. OR Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, or related field and six (6) years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer in commercial construction or heavy equipment.
- Four (4) years of experience (with Master's or Bachelor's) to include: Tolerance stack up analysis, GD&T, CAD (Solidworks), welded structures and FEA (ANSYS).
- Three (3) years of experience (with Master's or Bachelor's) to include: DFX, DFMEA, and industry safety/quality standards; Working on DAQ and hydraulic measuring equipment; Designing jigs and fixtures for production; and Electric and hydraulic diagrams and schematics.
