Full Job Description
Design new extrusion systems and make modifications/upgrades to existing extrusion systems. Assist assembly shop floor throughout build process of extrusion systems. Support identification of assembly issues and lead corrective action to maintain project schedule and ensure that sold specifications are met. Evaluate system design, part design, or existing processes for cost efficiency and reliability. Aid quality department with supplier deviation requests and post inspection part disposition.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design continuous web handling machinery to sold specifications
  • Solve moderately complex machinery designs as directed by the Engineering Manager
  • Calculate stress, deflections, and theoretical analysis. FEA Analysis background is a plus
  • Select proper materials for design requirements
  • Design in both 3D and 2D CAD applications. SolidWorks/AutoCAD experience a plus
  • Participate on Project Teams for contract and design review
  • Act as liaison between manufacturing, engineering and sales representatives
  • Participate in customer sales meetings and be able to lead other designers
  • Understand, at a high-level, design for manufacturing and assembly with ability to access existing designs and modify for improved outcomes such as reduction in part cost and time to assemble
  • Coordination of scope requirements between the controls and mechanical engineering groups
  • Provide Sales with technical help on customer presentations and proposals
  • Lead efforts of other designers on large projects under supervision of the Engineering Manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Mechanical Engineering Manager
  • Awareness of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, EHS&S programs
  • Travel up to 5-10% for customer visits, vendor meetings, and start-ups as required

SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering, or related 2 or 4-yr degree
  • Experience with industrial automation or automated machinery preferred, but not required
  • Experience with 3D modeling software, including exposure to simulation packages
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office products
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
