Hours per week: 37.5

Salary Range: $101,268 - $122,000. Exact compensation may vary depending on the individual experience and qualifications of each candidate. Applicants with greater or less than the minimum qualifications for this posted opportunity may be considered for alternate opportunities.

Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact

  • Reporting to the Service Line Director (SLD) for Nuclear Parts, manage technical and analytical support for multiple projects of varying complexity to ensure work is completed on schedule, on-budget and to the required quality standards.
  • Conduct programs of advanced research, testing, investigation, qualification and commercial grade dedication directed towards the application of manufacturing, testing of nuclear parts and equipment to assure safety and reliability of critical parts in nuclear power plants.
  • Lead and execute projects involving commercial grade dedication (CGD), environmental qualification (EQ), seismic qualification (SQ), and design/build of custom equipment
  • Prepare test procedures for functional testing, and factory acceptance testing to a high degree of accuracy and meeting the requirements of Kinectrics quality program.
  • Manage tests, investigations and troubleshooting efforts regarding fabrication of nuclear parts and systems complying with nuclear quality program requirements.
  • Work independently and as part of engineering teams to contribute and prepare technical evaluations, technical procedures, technical test plans, data analysis, report preparation and report reviews.
  • Apply recognized Project Management methodology to ensure projects are managed effectively (e.g. managing scope, time, cost, performance, communication, human resources, contracts, materials, risks and quality).
  • Liaise with staff, contractors, consultants and vendor resources as appropriate
  • Ensure staff and customers are provided with timely and accurate project information and status updates.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in the technical and project management process
  • Evaluate project and lessons learned via post-project review processes
  • Provide feedback to SLD regarding teamwork performance
  • Perform duties required to close all project documentation and archive appropriate records
  • Other duties as assigned


What You Need to Succeed

  • Requires 4-year university degree in Mechanical engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to acquire P. Eng designation
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in mechanical equipment and processes with an emphasis on functional/performance testing. Provided liaison between design and manufacturing.
  • Practical experience in the design and development of sophisticated equipment and instrumentation for testing would be an asset.
  • Experience in managing suppliers for part design, assembly, and manufacturing.
  • Knowledge and/or experience with CANDU nuclear technology are considered an asset.
  • Experience in developing technical specifications and test procedures for testing of a variety of products.
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing quotes and building bottom up cost estimates.
  • Clear understanding and experience of various project management methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively on a technical level.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge and interpretation of national and international standards as they apply to this field.
  • Knowledge of nuclear quality program and testing requirements
  • Knowledge of nuclear quality assurance standards
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible in areas of work and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong computer skills.


This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.
