Full Job Description
The primary role for this candidate will be a Mechanical Engineer for the Class 3 & Production Processing Equipment (PPE) Ground Support Equipment for our Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program. The individual will report through the Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE) Department. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for the design, development and delivery of Class 3 & PPE equipment that interfaces with the Class 1, Class 2, SME & STE equipment as well as the facility buildings. Job responsibilities include: - Collaborate in team environment to Develop mechanical design solutions of varying complexity using solid models, detailed drawings, and release of engineering work products. - Review requirements from various sources (stress, dynamics, systems, thermal, manufacturing, etc.) to ensure that applicable requirements are flowed into the detailed design of assigned products. - Collaborate with peers, configuration management, and manufacturing to ensure program requirements and schedules are met. - Contribute to the completion of Program achievements by the release of accurate, error-free, affordable and producible engineering designs. - Perform engineering liaison activities during hardware fabrication and procurement, including travel to support and provide technical assistance to existing/new suppliers, support assembly, integration, and testing activities, and provide on-site support to vendors as needed. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of 3D CAD Modeling in PTC CREO, Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), have good communications skills (both oral and written) and a background in Mechanical Engineering processes. A willingness to travel and ability to obtain a DOD security clearance is required. The candidate may be called on to support tasks outside of Class 3/PPE as required for FBM MGSE program and department success. The information below reflects the standard job description for this position Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. Basic Qualifications - Minimum of a bachelor degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. - Mechanical design, system, and/or manufacturing experience that includes the use of interpretation of engineering design drawings. - Understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals including structures, mechanisms, materials and analysis. - Experience with one or more engineering CAD tools (PTC Creo, NX, Solid Works, I-DEAS, etc.) and model based product definition. - Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain a DoD secret security clearance. Desired Skills - Minimum of a bachelor degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. - Mechanical design experience performing conceptual and detailed CAD modeling in PTC CREO, creation of 2D production type drawings, drawing revisions, releases and engineering change notices using Enterprise Product Data Management (EPDM) - Knowledge of industrial standards and federal regulations including ANSI, OSHA, and AWS (including AWS weld symbology) - Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and of ASME Y14.5 - Experience with manufacturing and manufacturing processes. - Knowledge of LM Space command media. - Good oral, written, and presentation communication skills. - Active DOD Secret security clearance Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $58200.00 - $108200.00 At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
