Mechanical Design Engineer II

Research & Development, Environmental

1 regular full-time position, located on-site in Logan, UT

Closing Date: End of Day, April 28, 2026

This position will work in the environmental research product development group on new sensor design.

The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the mechanical design, analysis, and testing of electronic instrumentation and measurement systems. Design work will include parts for 3D printing, machining, sheet metal, plastic molding, optics, fluids, and gas flow. Responsibilities include the selection and definition for materials, processes, mounting, packaging, analysis (thermal, vibration, etc.), and other mechanical issues arising in the design of electronic instrumentation and measurement systems.

You'll Support Your Team by Performing the Following Key Tasks

  • Design Engineering
    • Design new products using sheet metal, metal machining, plastics, optics, fluids, gases, etc.
    • Maintain existing products with design updates and improvements.
    • Analyze designs for thermal, flow, vibration, structure, etc.
    • Design manufacturing processes and integrating with existing manufacturing processes.
    • Verification and validation testing of components and systems.
    • Develop documentation for parts and processes.


What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or equivalent). Preference for a master's degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in R&D product development.
  • Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills and creativity.
  • Excellent time management.
