We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who will design and model tooling and equipment to support optical fabrication and coating processes.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Works with internal customers to ensure clear understanding of mechanical requirements.
  • Self-starter, capable of managing own time on multiple, parallel projects.
  • Conducts and coordinates analyses to assess and validate product designs and processes.
  • Supports NPI Technical Lead to ensure manufacturability of new designs.
  • Design tooling to support production of precision optics.
  • Leads or supports design reviews and discipline-specific peer reviews.
  • Other tasks as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field. Advanced degree desirable.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (Solidworks).
  • Build complicated assembly models and create detailed mechanical drawings and specifications for manufacturing.
  • Experience with Product Documentation Management (PDM).
  • Experience with DFMEA desirable.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.

Pay Range: $85,000 - $130,000 per year, depending on experience.

Our facility in Boulder, Colorado has key functions in Research and Development, Operations, Production, and other disciplines. This facility specializes in the manufacturing of ultra-precision optical components, optical thin film coatings and optical sub-assemblies for demanding applications in lasers, materials processing, instrumentation, life sciences, avionics, and defense.

This site offers capabilities that include substantial design and engineering resources, comprehensive optical fabrication and coating capabilities, advanced assembly technology and an extensive in-house metrology lab.
