Mechanical Design Engineer ONSITE in Berkeley, CADomain-Specific Skills- SolidWorks part, assembly, drawing, and configuration development.
- Mechanical component redesign for lower material, tooling, fabrication, and assembly cost.
- Sheet metal, weldments, machined parts, piping/fittings, plastics, fasteners, and tolerance stack-ups.
- Working knowledge of DFM, GD&T, DFMEA, problem solving, and design validation.
Key Responsibilities- Create and revise 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and engineering releases.
- Develop cost-reduction concepts while maintaining requirements and critical interfaces.
- Perform packaging, tolerance, fit, form, function, and manufacturability assessments.
- Resolve nonconformities and field issues through root-cause analysis and design revision.
- Support design reviews, supplier coordination, prototype evaluation, and validation planning.
Required Skills / Experience- 2+ years for junior or 4+ years for mid-level mechanical design assignments.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Experience in product design from concept through detailed design, verification, release, and production support.
- Working knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFM/DFA, DFMEA, and engineering change control.
- Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations across design, manufacturing, analysis, suppliers, and customers.
- Hands-on SolidWorks experience is required; provide examples of production-released designs.
Salary Range: $120,000 - $130,000The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
