The Mechanical Commissioning Engineer supports the startup, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems in mission-critical facilities. This role works closely with project teams to ensure systems such as HVAC, controls, and associated infrastructure are properly installed, tested, and fully operational prior to turnover.
The position assists in the development and implementation of commissioning-related policies, procedures, and standards to ensure all systems meet project and client requirements throughout execution.
The Mechanical Commissioning Engineer should have two or more years of experience with MEP systems, including building management systems (BMS), cooling infrastructure, critical plumbing, electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS), electrical distribution, UPS systems, and support utilities.
This role collaborates with trade partners, the MEP Manager, and the Commissioning (Cx) Project Manager to support system startup, coordinate testing activities, and drive successful delivery across all phases of the data center build.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:Experience in mission critical or large scale commercial projects. Background in HVAC, Controls, Operations, or Mechanical Field Services. Any industry trade certifications or licenses are a plus. Experience with construction/commissioning software ACC, procore, CxAlloy, Etc.

Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm, Monday through Friday. Overtime may be required
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in all mechanical Cx activities across data center construction projects.
- Oversee commissioning processes for mechanical systems including:
- HVAC systems (CRAH/CRAC units)
- Chilled water systems
- Cooling towers
- Pumps and piping systems
- Mechanical plant infrastructure
- Fire, life, and safety systems
- Create daily and weekly Cx reports that support client turnover and acceptance.
- Conduct site inspections to verify installation aligns with drawings, specifications, and mission-critical tolerances.
- Utilization of construction / commissioning software such as ACC, Procore, CxAlloy, Etc.
- Review shop drawings and mechanical submittals for conformance.
- Participates in project meetings
- Ensure strict adherence to OSHA and site-specific safety standards.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and refuse unsafe work.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
