2. Two years of nursing experience
3. Advanced knowledge in MDS process
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
Description:
The RN MDS Coordinator coordinates and assists with the completion and submission of accurate and timely interdisciplinary MDS Assessments, CAAs, and Care Plans according to CMS RAI Manual Regulations and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
Performs proficiently in all competency areas, including but not limited to patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
Maintains professional working relationships with all associates and vendors.
Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and confidential information.
Understands and follows company policies including harassment and compliance procedures.
Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to the Code of Conduct and completes mandatory Code of Conduct training.
Reports any changes in a patient's condition identified by the MDS Assessment to the Director of Nursing, Unit Manager, or staff nurse.
Provides education to direct care associates regarding updates or changes to the CMS RAI Manual or Skilled Nursing Facility Regulations that impact documentation.
Assists with the review of the Interdisciplinary Comprehensive Care Plan.
Reviews Final Validation Reports and attests that all assessments have been completed and accepted into the CMS iQIES system prior to billing.
Notifies the Business Office when assessments are not ready to bill.
Reviews CMS Reports to identify assessments completed or submitted late and develops systems and processes to prevent recurrence.
Attends and participates in Daily PPS Meetings, Monthly Triple Check, and other meetings upon request.
Exhibits excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
Demonstrates dependable, regular attendance in accordance with the Employee Handbook.
Sits, stands, bends, lifts, pushes, pulls, stoops, walks, reaches, and moves intermittently during working hours.
Conducts orientation sessions on the MDS process for all employees involved in the process.
Provides ongoing education for employees involved in MDS documentation.
Maintains documentation of all orientation and training sessions.
Serves as a resource person for patient care planning activities.
Works with accounts receivable personnel to facilitate payment.
Maintains currency with nursing practices and educational requirements.
Participates in the quality improvement process of the facility.
Attends and participates in department and facility meetings as required.
Accesses continuing education opportunities appropriate to responsibilities.
Concentrates and uses reasoning skills and good judgment.
Is required to abide by the Standards of Conduct and to report any activity that appears to violate the Standards of Conduct.
Performs duties in a way that supports the values and mission and the standards of conduct.
Performs other duties as assigned.
