Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Domain Engineer to lead the Meter Data Management System (MDMS) workstream for the Advanced Meter Infrastructure Replacement (AMIR) program. This role will direct the technical delivery of the vendor MDMS solution, coordinate the system integrator and internal teams, and own end-to-end readiness across configuration, integration, legacy migration, testing, cutover, stabilization, and operational transition.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead MDMS technical execution across architecture, requirements, design, configuration, development, integration, testing, migration, cutover, and stabilization.
• Partner with the MDMS vendor and system integrator to build the delivery schedule, define deliverables and acceptance criteria, and achieve program milestones.
• Provide technical direction to internal engineers, vendors, consultants, and downstream application teams.
• Lead validation of MDMS workflows and integrations to confirm end-to-end data quality, performance, and operational readiness.
• Coordinate legacy-system migration, source-to-target mapping, reconciliation, and transition planning.
• Serve as the escalation point for complex application, integration, data-quality, and performance issues; drive root-cause analysis and permanent resolution.
• Define testing, release, deployment, and production-readiness practices for the MDMS workstream.
• Review solution design and implementation tradeoffs involving performance, security, usability, scalability, and maintainability.
• Ensure production support, monitoring, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and knowledge-transfer plans are established.
• Apply appropriate Agile, DevOps, and SDLC practices throughout delivery.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 8 years of related experience.
• At least 5 years leading complex software implementations involving cross-functional teams, external partners, and downstream applications.
• At least 3 years managing or directing technical resources.
• Direct experience with Meter Data Management Systems in a utility AMI environment.
• Knowledge of Head-End systems, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, REST and SOAP APIs, streaming integration, AWS, DevOps tools, monitoring, reporting, and data-quality analysis.
• Ability to anticipate downstream impacts and communicate technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to evaluate tradeoffs involving performance, security, usability, and maintainability.
• Knowledge of advanced application architecture, testing, deployment, release practices, scalability, and maintainability.
• Skill in designing reusable components and shared services and leading complex technical workstreams.
