Full Job Description
The Managing Director of Product Management is responsible for the strategy and driving operational excellence for the Clearing portfolio. This portfolio of products is centered around the value that the clearing house delivers to its internal and external customers. These products range from trade capture, post-trade processing, product reference data, risk management, capital efficiencies, banking, collateral management, deliveries, regulatory reporting and customer reporting. The scope includes Futures and Options on Futures, Cleared Swaps and Cleared Cash products. This leadership role will ensure that the portfolio aligns with the Enterprise strategy and vision while championing a seamless experience for existing and prospective CME customers. The successful candidate will act as a thought leader and lead an organization of senior Product Managers and Product owners tasked with implementing the portfolio strategy, building the capabilities required to serve our customers, while managing risks and communicating effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Principal Accountabilities:
  • Defines and maintains portfolio strategy and roadmap based on enterprise and business goals
  • Defines business priorities and guardrails to guide demand intake and fund allocations
  • Thinks strategically, using innovative methods to solve problems. Demonstrates enterprise-wide mindset to deliver organization results
  • Drives cross-portfolio alignment and seeks guidance from the MT (as necessary)
  • Proactively communicates portfolio strategy effectively to stakeholders across the organization
  • Reviews budget requests and seeks portfolio budgets from MT (annual / ad-hoc additional budget for a new critical initiative)
  • Reviews and approves fund requests to strategic initiatives, product-specific demand
  • Defines team structure and allocates resources effectively across the portfolio mitigating risks proactively
  • Leads an organization of Product Manager/Owners, providing coaching/mentoring and driving team alignment
  • Reviews outcomes (using OKRs) and value delivered against the fund allocations, and continue to drive towards enterprise and portfolio priorities
  • Drives continuous improvement of product capabilities and operational excellence including waste reduction (people, process or technology resources)
  • Guides delivery of high-quality products to end users over incremental cycles by working with the product teams and resolving impediments, if any
  • Embed design thinking principles into the portfolio management process, fostering a culture of client-centricity and continuous innovation
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and conduct research to understand user needs and market trends


Requirements:
  • 15+ years of financial technology experience with deep knowledge of CME customers and platforms
  • Experience in Product Management and Change Management
  • Experience with agile methodologies
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience managing a team; ideally of similar makeup (product managers, product owners and business analysts)
  • Experience managing a team under a client centric Product Operating Model is preferred
  • Track record of design thinking and proactive leadership in a highly matrixed, collaborative environment
  • Strong expertise in clearing house operations preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, computer science or engineering; advanced degree preferred


Skills & Software Requirements:
  • Product Management and Change Management preferred
  • Agile methodology
  • Deep understanding of Critical User Journeys for clearing with end to end ecosystem
  • Understanding of and experience with portfolio and budgeting concepts
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills and the desire to work in a client-facing role
  • Strong understanding of agile concepts with certification in SAFe Lean Portfolio Mgmt (LPM) and/or Product Management
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise SAFe, Agile, Lean and/or Iterative Development methodologies

The pay ranges for this role based on location are: Chicago: $261,800-$436,300 New York/New Jersey: $261,800-$436,300. Actual salary offered will be dependent on a wide array of factors including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills, education and comparison to internal employees (where relevant).
