Full Job Description
Seattle Children's Fetal Center is seeking an experienced Maternal-Fetal Medicine Sonographer to join our multidisciplinary team in Seattle. This unique role offers the opportunity to work alongside nationally recognized fetal surgeons and maternal-fetal medicine specialists, providing advanced diagnostic imaging and procedural support for complex, high-risk pregnancies.

The successful candidate will perform comprehensive fetal ultrasound examinations in both outpatient and operative settings, supporting the diagnosis, management, and treatment of a wide range of fetal conditions. Ultrasound services include detailed anatomic surveys, twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) evaluations, fetal Doppler studies, and advanced fetal assessments. In the operating room, the sonographer will provide real-time ultrasound guidance for fetal interventions, including laser ablation for TTTS, fetal shunt placements, intrauterine transfusions (IUTs), and other specialized fetal procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide ultrasound guidance for both office-based and operating room fetal procedures, including amniocentesis, fetal shunt placement, intrauterine transfusion (IUT), laser ablation for TTTS, and other fetal interventions.
  • Perform detailed maternal-fetal ultrasound examinations, including comprehensive fetal anatomy assessments, biometry, functional evaluations, and arterial and venous Doppler studies.
  • Conduct and accurately document specialized examinations, including twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome evaluations, fetal cardiac function assessments, and other advanced fetal imaging studies.
  • Perform basic and detailed obstetric ultrasound examinations throughout all three trimesters, utilizing both transabdominal and transvaginal scanning techniques.
  • Review patient history, clinical information, and provider requests to ensure appropriate examination protocols and optimal patient care.
  • Acquire, process, and manipulate advanced 3D and 4D ultrasound imaging as clinically indicated.
  • Provide portable bedside ultrasound examinations when requested by attending physicians.
  • Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practices, emerging technologies, and diagnostic approaches related to fetal conditions and maternal-fetal surgical interventions.
  • Collaborate closely with fetal surgeons, maternal-fetal medicine physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary fetal care team.
  • Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to departmental, regulatory, and patient safety standards.


Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Completion of and graduation from a formal AMA approved ultrasound technology program, or equivalent experience. (AMA is the approver of CAAHEP accreditation; please refer to CAAHEP site to view complete listing of accredited programs).

Required Credentials
American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) credentialed; or able to obtain within 12 months of employment.
BLS for Healthcare Providers.

Preferred
3 years experience in maternal-fetal medicine

Compensation Range
$56.30 - $91.12 per hour

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
