Full Job Description
Materials Manager

The Materials Manager leads buyers/planners to ensure effective material replenishment for the factory. This role ensures the right inventory levels to support customer demand, keep production lines running, and meet working capital targets. The Materials Manager is responsible for improving inventory turns, improving supplier on-time delivery, managing raw materials, finished goods inventory, goods in transit, and vendor-managed inventory.

This role will be located in Wood Dale, Illinois, and will be onsite.

In this role, a typical day will look like:
• Lead and develop a team of buyer/planners to ensure effective material planning and replenishment
• Ensure optimal inventory levels to support customer demand while minimizing excess and ensuring the production cells do not have stock outs
• Drive continuous improvement in inventory turns and overall working capital performance
• Monitor and improve supplier on time delivery and material availability to prevent production disruptions
• Oversee end to end material flow, including ordering raw materials, goods in transit, finished goods, and vendor managed inventory (VMI)
• Collaborate with production, quality, and manufacturing engineering to mitigate any interruptions from suppliers
• Manage all open purchase orders with suppliers and minimize past due POs.
• Establish and maintain material planning parameters (safety stock, reorder points, lead times, kanban, min/max)
• Analyze demand forecast and align supply plans to meet current customer requirements and service level targets
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risk, including shortages, delays, and supplier performance issues
• Implement and drive best practices in inventory management, material planning, and ERP system utilization
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives (kaizens) focused on cost reduction, inventory reduction, and adding suppliers to VMI
• Using VES tools, identify root cause to On Time Delivery misses and inventory misses and lead the team to create countermeasures
• Develop and mentor subordinates to build a strong pipeline of future leaders, ensuring effective succession planning and bench strength

The essential requirements of the job include:
• Bachelor's Degree and /or Master's Degree in Engineering or Business Administration
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in Materials Management.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Materials Management leadership role
• Knowledge of VES Tools (Kaizen, 5S, SQDP, PSP, others)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Computer Literate, MS applications

This range may be modified in the future. An associate's position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $150,000 - $160,000 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
