Full Job Description
Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Materials Manager to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Manufacturing Operations, the Materials Manager will is responsible for leading all material execution activities supporting manufacturing operations, including inventory management, material handling, kitting, shipping/receiving, warehouse operations, and logistics. This role is accountable for ensuring inventory accuracy, timely material availability, and efficient material flow throughout the manufacturing process. The Materials Manager serves as the functional owner of inventory integrity within D365, driving process discipline, inventory control, cycle counting, and continuous improvement initiatives while partnering closely with Manufacturing, Planning, Procurement, Engineering, Finance, Quality, and Program Management. This leader develops scalable processes, establishes meaningful KPIs, build high-performing teams, and provides operational leadership that enables production to meet customer commitments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead, develop, and coach supervisors and material operations teams across inventory control, material handling, warehousing, kitting, shipping/receiving, and logistics.
  • Build cross-functional capabilities and drive a culture of ownership, teamwork, urgency, and continuous improvement.
  • Own enterprise inventory accuracy, cycle count programs, reconciliation, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions, leveraging D365.
  • Ensure strong financial controls by partnering with Finance on inventory valuation, reporting, month-end close, adjustments, audits, and process improvements.
  • Oversee material flow and kitting operations to ensure complete, accurate, and on-time production support.
  • Manage warehouse layout, storage strategy, FIFO, traceability, and productivity improvements using Lean principles.
  • Lead excess and obsolete inventory governance and partner across functions to reduce E&O risk.
  • Direct inbound/outbound logistics, carrier performance, regulatory compliance, transportation cost optimization, and accurate receiving processes.
  • Establish standardized processes, visual management, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives across all material operations.
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing, Planning, Procurement, Engineering, Finance, and Quality; lead cross-functional reviews on inventory health, shortages, discrepancies, and production readiness.
  • Present performance metrics, risks, and improvement plans to senior leadership and drive alignment and action across teams.

Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, or related field preferred.
  • 7+ years' progressive experience in materials/warehouse/inventory or manufacturing operations; 3+ years managing exempt and non-exempt teams.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, high-tech, or regulated manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong ERP knowledge (D365 strongly preferred); expertise in cycle counting, inventory controls, and financial inventory reporting.
  • Demonstrated Lean/CI capability and success driving cross-functional change.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and executive-level presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence without authority and lead complex cross-functional discussions.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, financial acumen, and operational decision-making skills.
  • High proficiency in Excel and MS Office; capable of KPI development and dashboard reporting.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.


Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
