Materials/Corrosion Design Engineer-Materials/Corrosion Design Engineer will be responsible for supporting material selection, corrosion control, coatings, linings, and chemical compatibility for facility design changes and equipment/system modifications.
Duties:- Evaluate materials of construction for compatibility with facility chemicals and service conditions.
- Recommend coatings, linings, corrosion-control features, and decontaminable surface treatments.
- Support design decisions affecting harsh-service equipment, piping, tanks, structural components, and facility finishes.
- Coordinate with process, mechanical, structural, and radiological engineering on materials-related design inputs.
- Review degradation risks, failure mechanisms, and lifecycle implications of design changes.
Education/Experience:- Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with materials selection, corrosion, or chemical compatibility in industrial environments.
- Knowledge of coatings, corrosion mechanisms, and service-environment effects
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience with caustic, acidic, solvent, or chemically aggressive service environments.
- Familiarity with long-term reliability and decontamination considerations in industrial facilities.
Other Job Requirements:- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
