Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging addiction and recovery education presentations
  • Conduct assessments, case management, and discharge planning
  • Partner with the treatment team to address co-occurring psychiatric needs
  • Complete evaluations for substance use disorders using DSM-5 and ASAM criteria
  • Maintain clear, timely clinical documentation

Full Job Description
Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Therapist - OP

Columbia, Maryland | Full-Time | $34-44/hour

Schedule: Monday- Thursday 12:30p-8:30p, flex day Friday

What You'll Do
  • Build genuine, collaborative treatment alliances with patients, adapting to their evolving clinical needs
  • Facilitate addiction treatment groups at the OP levels of care
  • Deliver engaging addiction and recovery education presentations
  • Conduct assessments, case management, discharge planning, and coordinate with referral sources and other providers
  • Partner with the treatment team to address co-occurring psychiatric needs
  • Complete evaluations for substance use disorders using DSM-5 and ASAM criteria
  • Maintain clear, timely clinical documentation that meets state and CARF standards
  • Track and contribute to measurable outcomes - retention, attendance, program completion, and treatment goal achievement
  • Share on-call coverage on a rotating basis (about one week, a few times per year) to support patients in crisis
  • Bring your experience in Motivational Interviewing, CBT, and trauma-informed care into daily practice
  • Represent Kolmac/CCG with professionalism and positive energy, in and out of session

Direct patient care makes up roughly 55% of the role, depending on program needs.
What You Bring
  • 2+ years of experience in the SUD field (group treatment experience a plus, not required)
  • Master's degree in counseling, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related field
    • Required Credentials (one of the following): LGPC, LMSW, LCSW, or LCSW-C (Maryland)
  • Strong clinical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Comfort working in an electronic medical record system
  • Familiarity with a range of recovery modalities - 12-Step, SMART Recovery, Harm Reduction, Recovery Dharma, Women for Sobriety, and more
  • A flexible, creative, team-first mindset, ready to grow with an expanding program
  • If in personal recovery: minimum of 3 years continuous sobriety required (5+ preferred)
