Position Summary

The Joint Targeting and Fires Exercise Planner will lead and support exercise design, scenario development, scripting, and execution for SOF over-the-horizon targeting and Joint fires integration. This role supports MARSOC battle staff training, RAVEN unit readiness exercises, and participation in Service and Joint exercises.

The planner will attend Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) events in both CONUS and OCONUS locations and serve as the G-7 Joint targeting and fires subject matter expert in support of MARSOC training readiness and force development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to:

 

  • Lead and support exercise design, scenario development, scripting, and execution for SOF over-the-horizon targeting and Joint fires integration.
  • Support MARSOC battle staff training, RAVEN unit readiness exercises, and participation in Service and Joint exercises.
  • Attend and contribute to JELC events in CONUS and OCONUS locations.
  • Serve as the G-7 subject matter expert for Joint targeting and fires.
  • Support MARSOC training readiness and force development.
  • Lead planning using the Marine Corps Planning Process, Military Decision-Making Process, or an equivalent planning process.
Requirements

Minimum Requirements

 

  • 15 years of prior military service.
  • Targeting and fires experience at the Fleet, MEF, JTF, or equivalent level of command.
  • Thorough understanding of Joint deliberate and dynamic targeting processes, Joint fires, multidomain targeting and effects, and the employment of applicable aviation and fires platforms.
  • Thorough understanding of Joint, MAGTF, or Naval targeting and fires data systems, C4I networks, and data pathways.
  • Experience in and thorough understanding of military exercise planning and exercise life cycle events.
  • Experience leading the Marine Corps Planning Process, Military Decision-Making Process, or an equivalent planning process.
  • Understanding of SOF capabilities, support, fires applications, and operations.
  • Excellent verbal communication and multitasking skills.
  • Current TS/SCI clearance verified in DISS.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Ability to travel to CONUS and OCONUS exercise planning events.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and passport, with the ability to maintain both.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SOF fires experience and thorough knowledge of SOF-specific mission sets.
  • Graduate of an armed forces Command and Staff College or equivalent professional military education.
  • Experience with multidomain and system-of-systems integration.
  • Experience in maritime targeting and fires.
  • Experience and familiarity with Joint C2 and CIP/COP systems.

Place of Performance

  • Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. May be required to travel in support of these requirements.

The projected compensation range for this position is $80500 to $149500 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of MAG's total compensation package for employees.
