Full Job Description
About This Role

Ashby's Marketing team is scaling pipeline generation across a multi-product portfolio (ATS, Onboarding). As our Marketing Strategy & Planning Manager, you'll be the only dedicated marketing ops hire on the team-owning the full technical and analytical foundation that lets Marketing run campaigns, measure performance, and improve efficiency with confidence.

This role sits within Revenue Operations, the horizontal function that makes the entire GTM system work, and partners in close, near-daily collaboration with the VP of Marketing and her leadership team. You'll be embedded in the day-to-day (tracking, dashboards, campaign systems) while also shaping how Marketing measures pipeline generation and CAC as we scale.

Why this role matters now

We're in an active expansion phase: new products, new segments, new channels. The person in this role will shape how Marketing operates for the next chapter of Ashby's growth.

What You'll Do
Marketing Campaign Management and Analytics
  • Implement and maintain robust tracking systems for marketing campaigns, including proper UTM parameter implementation and lead source attribution in HubSpot
  • Lead design and execution of complex marketing automation workflows
  • Build and maintain marketing dashboards covering SEO performance, website analytics, lead generation metrics, and campaign effectiveness
  • Deliver regular reports on key marketing metrics and provide data-driven insights to optimize campaign performance
Cross-Functional Leadership and Strategy
  • Operate as part of the Revenue Operations organization, aligning Marketing, RevOps, and Business Systems teams around shared marketing operations priorities and company objectives
  • Lead technical implementation of marketing initiatives, ensuring proper setup and execution
  • Develop and maintain documentation for marketing operations processes and best practices
  • Train team members on marketing technology tools and best practices
Data Management and Compliance
  • Develop and implement data governance frameworks to maintain high-quality marketing data
  • Create and manage data segmentation strategies for targeted marketing initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant data privacy regulations
  • Regularly audit marketing systems and processes to maintain data integrity and security
Marketing Technology and Systems
  • Act as the dedicated subject matter expert, overseeing lead management processes, automation rules
  • Collaborate with the Systems and Tooling team on improvements to existing tech stack
  • Evaluate and recommend new marketing technologies to enhance our capabilities
What We're Looking For
  • 7+ years of experience in marketing strategy + operations, marketing strategic planning or a similar role
  • SQL knowledge and experience with data manipulation
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of marketing metrics and reporting
  • Advanced expertise in marketing automation tools
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and visualization
  • Strong understanding of marketing automation, lead management, and campaign attribution
  • Experience with web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics)
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations and compliance requirements

Nice to Have
  • Experience with business intelligence tools (Heap Analytics, Looker)
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with API integrations and webhook management

This role may not be a fit if:
  • You are most interested in the operational side of Marketing Strategy and Planning, and prefer to have hands on systems ownership vs owning strategy and analysis
  • You want a team to delegate execution to-this is a hands-on, individual-contributor seat with no marketing ops team beneath you
  • You prefer owning one channel deeply rather than the full technical stack (tracking, automation, reporting, compliance) end to end
  • You do your best work when requirements are fully specified, rather than when you need to diagnose ambiguous problems and set the KPIs yourself
Interview process
  1. Recruiter Screen
  2. Hiring Manager Interview
  3. Challenge Interview
  4. Final Round with multiple key stakeholders

We're running an A/B test with our Marketing Strategy role to optimize clarity and candidate response. Both postings (Marketing Strategy & Operations Manager and Marketing Strategy & Planning Manager) feature identical responsibilities, qualifications, and compensation. The only difference is the title. By testing which title resonates more particularly in search, candidate engagement, and application rates, we ensure we're zeroed in on the best fit for each team, without muddying the waters or causing confusion across two similar listings.

Benefits
  • 10-year exercise window for stock options. You shouldn't feel pressure to purchase stock options if you leave Ashby -do it when you feel financially comfortable.
  • Unlimited PTO with four weeks recommended per year.
  • Twelve weeks of fully paid family leave in the US. We plan to expand this to employees in other countries as situations arise.
  • Generous equipment, software, and office furniture budget. Get what you need to be happy and productive!
  • $100/month education budget with more expensive items (like conferences) covered with manager approval.
  • If you're in the US, top-notch health insurance for you and your dependents, with all premiums covered by us.
