The Marketing Manager is responsible for the development and successful execution of a strategic marketing and social media plan that supports WAM's external storytelling, increases WAM's presence, grows WAM's program enrollments and drives audience engagement.

Compensation Range: $80,000 to $90,000annually

Work Location: In-Person at our Los Angeles or San Francisco offices and studios. Occasional travel nationally.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Marketing Manager is responsible for the development and successful execution of a strategic marketing and social media plan that supports WAM's external storytelling, increases WAM's presence, grows WAM's program enrollments and drives audience engagement. This role is responsible for creating compelling social media content and digital campaigns as well as regular newsletters, press releases and website content and maintenance. This position will work in partnership with program staff across the organization to produce compelling marketing content to support the programs and initiatives for each department. **This position will be based at either our San Francisco or Los Angeles offices and studios, depending on where the candidate lives**.

Primary Objectives and Responsibilities
  • Create and execute a marketing plan and schedule for social media, email newsletters, press releases and all other types of communication assets.
  • Develop engaging daily content on WAM's social media platforms - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Threads and others - that effectively communicate WAM's voice and optimize engagement, including hashtags, geolocation, and other strategies/trends.
  • Create digital content, capturing photos/videos, generating reels, graphics and videos for social media channels, email newsletters, website, and educational materials.
  • Produce weekly to bi-monthly email campaigns in Mailchimp or similar platform. Ensure consistent strategy, accuracy and consistency.
  • Identify target audience segments and develop targeted marketing strategies tailored to donor, student, educator, ally segments.
  • Research, develop, and maintain third party promotional partnerships and relationships (sponsorships, etc.).
  • Monitor and respond to social media messages, feedback and reviews on platforms like Google and Yelp.
  • Manage donated Google Ads/other donated advertising
  • Create events and monitor ticket sales utilizing platforms such as Eventbrite, School Auction, or similar platforms.
  • Manage WAM's website in collaboration with contracted web design contractor(s).
  • Manage and expand WAM's media list, cultivating strong relationships with journalists, bloggers and influencers.
  • Ensure that press releases are created/launched as needed in conjunction with general marketing schedule.
  • Create monthly reports tracking and analyzing marketing and social media data.
  • Work with graphic design consultants as needed for projects that require additional support, ensuring that assets adhere to the WAM image/brand.
  • As needed, assist with the managing of vendors/contractors/external agencies relevant to marketing.


Qualifications

  • 4-5 years professional experience in a marketing and communications role
  • 4-5 years professional experience creating and overseeing comprehensive marketing plans across all functions
  • 4-5 years of professional experience managing websites and content
  • 4-5 years professional copywriting experience
  • 4-5 years of professional experience in creating and designing compelling social media content and managing a daily social media posting schedule. Video and photo capture/editing required.
  • 4-5 years of professional experience managing social media platforms - Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc. and digital marketing tools like Mailchimp, Hootsuite, WordPress and Eventbrite.
  • Extensive experience implementing market segmentation.
  • Demonstrated experience with market analytics and reporting.
  • Experience in producing and managing event campaigns.
  • Compelling and engaging writing style.
  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, energetic, and creative work environment and able to meet competing deadlines.
  • Self-starter and able to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Proficient with general office software as well as social media management platforms and communications platforms, video and photo shooting/editing required.
  • Bachelor of Arts degree or equivalent experience.
