Market Operations Specialist - Options

Location: New York, NY (3 days per week onsite)

IEX is looking for a driven, motivated candidate to join our Market Operations desk. You will have familiarity with U.S. options market structure, programming & automation, data analysis, and the support of multifaceted technology systems. You will demonstrate the composure and aptitude required to work effectively in a dynamic, high-pressure trading environment.

This position is best suited for a highly collaborative, team-oriented individual who is passionate about working with technology, trading systems, and data. You'll work directly with IEX Member firms and other industry participants to expand access and understanding of the IEX market as well as cross functionally with IEX's product, technology, and regulatory teams.

What You'll Do:
  • Execute and maintain daily operational procedures
  • Develop expertise with IEX systems, market functionality, order types and external interfaces
  • Design, build, and maintain automation scripts owned by the Market Operations team
  • Conduct testing with members in test facility environment when required and to assist in executing requests as needed
  • Ensure strict adherence to regulatory reporting requirements in a highly regulated exchange environment
  • Perform data analysis to support troubleshooting client issues, improving operational efficiency, and managing risk
  • Participation in general IEX product development and business development initiatives
  • Perform Obvious Error Reviews for Members that notify the desk of possible trading errors
  • Collaborate with internal teams at IEX - including Technology Operations, Product Management, Business Development, Business Analytics, Quality Assurance, Compliance, and Regulation
  • Participation in industry tests

Your Background:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of operational experience on a trading / operations desk
  • Strong knowledge of electronic trading, trading systems, and options market structure a plus
  • Interested in picking up Python programming and automation skills
  • Ability to acquire applicable certifications within 90 days of hiring

Nice to Haves:
  • Python programming experience - You've thrown some scripts together to automate things you don't need to spend your time on. Always looking to improve your code and use functions where possible. You get annoyed at manual processes that can be easily automated and do what you can to prevent yourself from being a human keyboard.
  • Data analysis experience -You enjoy spending time with large datasets and using your skills to create interesting views.
  • Familiarity with a versioning system like Git
  • Knowledge of micro-market structure, order types, and order book behavior

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting annual base pay is between $120,000 and $150,000 for this NY-based position. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The annual base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for bonus and equity.
