Market Director of Finance to provide strategic financial leadership across five prominent Marriott-brand hotels in Indianapolis, Indiana - JW Marriott Indianapolis, Indianapolis Marriott Downtown, Courtyard by Marriott Indianapolis, Fairfield Inn by Marriott Indianapolis, and SpringHill Suites by Marriott Indianapolis. Together, these five properties represent the most significant Marriott hotel cluster in the Indianapolis market - spanning luxury full-service, premium full-service, and select-service segments - and one of the most high-profile Area Director of Finance opportunities in the Indianapolis hospitality industry.
In this role, you'll support the leadership teams across all five Indianapolis Marriott properties and provide financial guidance spanning analysis and reporting, tax, accounting, and bookkeeping. Your practical, cost-versus-benefit solutions will be valued and integral to the financial performance of the entire Indianapolis hotel cluster. What You'll Do - Oversee, direct, and administer all financial operations across the five-property Indianapolis Marriott cluster - including financial analysis and reporting, budgeting and forecasting, audit and control, asset and liability reconciliation, working capital, and cash controls
- Partner with General Managers and executive committees across all five properties to develop annual operating budgets, produce accurate forecasts, and provide analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost-saving and productivity opportunities
- Track, evaluate, and interpret financial performance data across the Indianapolis hotel cluster - making strategic recommendations to maximize profitability and ensure full compliance with GAAP and the Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI)
- Advise General Managers and executive committees on existing and evolving operating and financial issues - communicating financial concepts clearly and persuasively to drive sound business decision-making across all five properties
- Maintain a strong accounting and operational control environment - safeguarding hotel assets, improving operations, managing business risks, and ensuring compliance with all required SOPs across the cluster
- Review P&L statements for accuracy; reconcile balance sheets; oversee internal, external, and regulatory audit processes; and ensure all account balances are supported by appropriate documentation
- Ensure tax rates for sales and use tax are current and proper amounts are collected and accrued - documenting tax-exempt transactions and ensuring all hotel permits, licenses, and applicable vendor contracts remain current across all five properties
- Leverage technology and information systems to generate financial reports, monitor data accuracy, and provide managers with the analytical support needed to drive revenue and operational performance goals
- Monitor, develop, and evaluate accounting team member performance - providing supervision, professional development, scheduling, counseling, and recognition across the Indianapolis cluster finance team
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs
What You'll Bring - 4-year bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance - required; 3 or more years of hotel accounting experience strongly preferred
- Prior experience as a Director of Finance, Hotel Controller, Area Director of Finance, or senior hotel accounting professional - multi-property or cluster finance experience in an Indianapolis or comparable Marriott-brand hotel market strongly preferred
- A thorough understanding of hotel accounting processes - including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), General Ledger (GL), cash management, purchasing and inventory controls, and how hotel operations intersect with financial performance across a multi-property cluster
- Working knowledge of front office accounting processes - including Property Management Systems (PMS), Point of Sale (POS), Guest Ledger, and night audit functions - and Accounting Standard Operating Procedures and Internal Control Best Practices
- Strong analytical abilities with effective decision-making and problem-solving skills - with a demonstrated ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and choose the best solution across a complex five-property hotel finance environment
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills - with the ability to communicate financial concepts clearly and persuasively to General Managers, executive committees, and department managers across all five Indianapolis Marriott properties
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in standard software applications and hotel accounting systems - with the ability to troubleshoot technology-related issues and leverage information systems to generate accurate financial reports and drive decision-making
