This role is expected to operate as a contributor and strategic planner. The expectation includes balancing high-level planning with direct market execution. The MDBD partners closely with facility CEOs and local leadership to ensure alignment of business development activity with key organizational priorities, including revenue, admissions, census, payer mix, and expense management.

  • Contribute to admissions growth through active participation in referral development, presentations, and market engagement.
  • Step into facility-level business development activities when needed to reinforce execution and model best practices.
  • Support high-priority accounts and markets directly, ensuring pull-through and follow-up are timely and effective.

Leadership and Team Development
  • Provide direct oversight, coaching, and accountability to Business Development Liaisons, ensuring consistent performance across facilities.
  • Establish expectations, performance reviews, and professional development plans for BDLs.
  • Lead training and skill development, emphasizing consultative selling, referral pull-through, and market execution.
  • Serve as a mentor, modeling professionalism and executional discipline while driving results through others.

Market and Competitive Intelligence
  • Monitor referral patterns, census data, and competitive activity across all markets within the region.
  • Provide actionable insights to facility CEOs and executive leadership to anticipate market shifts and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Ensure the region is positioned as the provider of choice through consistent visibility, outreach, and reputation-building efforts.

Performance Management and Accountability
  • Track progress toward facility and market KPIs, including admissions, revenue, census, and payer mix.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to the Business Development and Admissions Leadership, facility CEOs, and corporate leadership, highlighting successes and areas needing corrective action.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Operations to link business development activities with financial performance, ensuring growth is both measurable and sustainable.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with clinical, admissions, and operational teams to ensure business development strategies are aligned with facility capacity, payer relationships, and treatment outcomes.
  • Contribute to regional and organizational initiatives such as conferences, alumni engagement, and community programming.
  • Serve as a connector across functions and markets, ensuring best practices are identified, shared, and implemented consistently.
