A Taste of What You'll Do

As a Market Development Manager - On Premise Wine & Spirits, you will maximize the sale and distribution of Gallo brands by partnering closely with distributor personnel and key on-premise accounts. You will execute strategic sales and marketing initiatives, identify growth opportunities, and help drive achievement of annual sales goals while building strong partnerships across the market. Based on business priorities, you will make strategic decisions about where to invest your time, coaching distributor teams, closing sales gaps, and driving brand distribution in high-opportunity accounts.

In this role, you will analyze market trends, competitive activity, pricing dynamics, and performance data to uncover opportunities that support business growth. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to activate local marketing programs, support consumer engagement initiatives, and ensure consistent execution of brand standards. Your ability to influence, motivate, and develop distributor sales teams will be critical to success.

As a Gallo Ambassador, you will represent our portfolio within the community, support brand activation efforts, leverage technology and digital tools to monitor performance, and contribute innovative ideas that advance the business. You'll thrive in a dynamic environment that values ownership, accountability, adaptability, and entrepreneurial thinking while helping build strong relationships with distributor partners and customers throughout your territory.

What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of wine or spirits sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality, or distributor experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 6 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 7 years of wine or spirits sales, marketing, restaurant/hospitality, or distributor experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Candidate is required to have a valid driver's license, a safe driving record and reliable vehicle (if applicable) at the time of hire. This position will undergo a motor vehicle check (MVR) to confirm a history of safe and responsible driving. If needed, candidate must obtain the appropriate state driver's license based on the position's location within 30 days of hire.
  • Required to obtain liquor license as required by state/locality.
  • Required to travel by air and car in order to execute job functions.
  • Required to see, taste, and smell wine and perform wine tastings as part of job functions.
  • Required to be 21 years of age or older.
  • Required to Travel by air and automobile up to 25% during the course of business.
  • Experience demonstrating strong leadership, selling, time management, and public speaking skills.
  • Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

How You'll Stand Out
  • Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of Gallo winery or distributor sales experience to include a prior rotation as a Spirits Development Specialist, Spirits Development Specialist Sr, Business Intelligence Analyst Sr, Market Development Manager, Market Development Manager Sr, or Account Manager 1; OR Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of external alcohol sales experience to include on-premise experience.
  • Experience selling or marketing Gallo brands.
  • Identifies and understands issues, problems, and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions.
  • Experience addressing customer needs a primary focus of one's actions; experience building positive relationships with customers (translates as both internal and external).
  • Skilled in monitoring the results of multiple assignments and projects.
  • Experience establishing action plans for oneself and others to ensure tasks and projects are completed on time.
  • Skilled in anticipating future consequences and trends accurately, can create competitive strategies and plans.
  • Skilled in commanding presence, presenting ideas effectively to individuals or a group.
