Marine Electrical Engineer

Department: Product Development Engineering

Reports to: MarineSystems Design Manager

Location: Bremerton - Full time, on site. This is not a remote or work from home position!

FSLA Status: Exempt

Compensation: $95- 115K DOE per year

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, four ten hour days

Why we need you and what you will be responsible for:

With a record high backlog of boats to build, we are seeking a dedicated, passionate Marine Electrical Engineer to help us design our incredible boats efficiently and successfully for our mission-focused customers. Using your Marine electrical experience, 3D CAD skills, and talent you will create functional and effective electrical drawings designed for manufacturability for boats to be used by law enforcement, first responders, and the military for both domestic and international customers.

What you will be doing:
  • Engineer, design, develop and refine boat electrical and electronics systems
  • Research and develop new electrical and electronic vessel features
  • Be the subject matter expert on marine electrical and electronics systems and stay current on the latest industry technology and products
  • Work with Business Development and the Sales Engineering team to configure new product offerings
  • Design and engineer power distribution and control systems
  • Coordinate with suppliers and integrators to configure marine electronics systems to meet customer requirements and missions
  • Perform electrical load analyses
  • Perform voltage drop and wire size calculations
  • Review and understand specifications, and implement into designs
  • Conduct peer reviews of boat electrical system designs
  • Review, audit and update BOMs (Bills of Materials)
  • Support and troubleshoot electrical system installation issues with production team, customer service team and outside contactors
  • Support design team on the layout of electrical and electronic components
  • Work directly with the Customer Support Group to coordinate electrical and electronics work on vessel refit and repair projects
  • Supports organization through direct interaction for Q&A and problem solving
  • Read, interpret, and apply SAFE Boats, Department of Defense, MIL-SPEC, and regulatory standards and customer supplied documentation
  • Research and implement updates and improvements with electrical standards and requirements to adhere to the evolving needs of the industry and designs
  • Supports less experienced Marine Electrical and Systems Designers, answers questions and coach


SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Strong communication and technical skills with the ability to quickly grasp technical issues/concepts

  • Willing and able to support work in a factory (heavy manufacturing) environment


Experience & Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of three years' experience in the Marine/Boat building industry
  • Two years of marine electrical and electronics system installation and/or design experience
  • Two years of experience CAD design and drafting
  • Knowledge of ANSI drawing standards a plus
  • Solid Edge experience a plus
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time
  • Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing,
  • Listening and hearing ability and visual acuity
  • Bend, stoop, squat and stretch to complete tasks
  • Must be able to work at heights and/or confined spaces and lift up to 40 lbs.
