Job Description:

The Manufacturing Site Leader will work with leaders and teams of machinists, fabricators, (and painters at some sites) to manufacture high quality machine parts with a focus on efficiency, safety, and process improvement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead Manufacturing Team Leaders and team members in the operation of machine tools to maximize efficiency, equipment value, cross training, and development.
  • Develop a high-performing team that supports a culture of continuous improvement and utilization of available resources and tools. Identify and implement process improvements, oversee use of standard work processes, planning, prioritizing, and training.
  • Develop key metrics and utilize visuals to monitor and communicate key performance indicators.
  • Coach, develop, and empower leaders and team members to support and drive high levels of quality, productivity, and delivery to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Develop the skill and capability of roles to build base competencies and for cross-training.
  • Serve as a technical resource and assist with problem solving, determining the most efficient plans, monitoring rework and scrap and preventive solutions. Monitor customer requirements against available capacity and shift resources to fulfil those requirements.
  • Perform all team member related actions including hiring, performance management, and development.  Provide detailed performance feedback to team members.
  • Proactively identify equipment issues and work closely with maintenance to plan and schedule preventive maintenance.
  • Create and sustain a safety environment that promotes a safety mindset, embraces training and adherence to safety policies and procedures, and encourages awareness and correction of safety hazards.
  • Ensure that work areas and equipment are maintained in clean and orderly condition and all safety regulations are observed; report and correct any unsafe work practices or conditions immediately.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree in machine tool/fabrication technology or a related field and eight years of related experience, or a high school diploma/GED and 10 years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Technical expertise in machining, paint, fabrication, materials, blueprints, NC programs, routings, tooling, and fixturing.
  • Demonstrated communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, planning, and scheduling abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
