Job Description:

Forsyth is looking for a Vice President of Business Development. This individual will be responsible for the development and growth of new investment opportunities. The primary responsibilities of this role are to cultivate direct relationships with middle-market business owners, develop relationships with intermediaries that provide sell-side advice in acquisition processes, and organize and execute outreach programs across Forsyth & Barry-Wehmiller’s different businesses.   The role would be based in St. Louis, MO. The candidate would need the flexibility to spend time traveling to meet with business owners, intermediaries, and trade shows. The candidate would work closely with the (head of) business development lead and internal investment teams to organize specific focus areas and manage the incoming deal opportunities. The ideal candidate would be an outbound oriented individual with experience driving new business as well as a strong relationship builder who can convey our unique approach and business model to business owners, M&A intermediaries, and other channel partners.

Primary Responsibilities:

Direct / proprietary sourcing and relationship building with company owners

  • Design, implement, and execute targeted marketing / relationship building campaigns as well as potential new platform and add-on acquisition targets supporting industrial-focused investment theses
  • Drive relationship building process from initial introduction communication to coordinating introduction with investment team professionals or closure of target opportunity
  • Attend industry trade shows as well as in-person visits with prospective business-owners

Intermediary Relationship Management and Building

  • Develop and implement structured marketing and outreach approach to banks, brokers and other business intermediaries
  • Build collaborative relationships with banks, brokers and other intermediaries to increase inbound deal activity from these sources
  • Plan and manage territory meetings to ensure firm meets intermediary contact and sourcing goals
  • Act as a liaison between Forsyth and Barry-Wehmiller investment teams and external intermediaries and service providers
    • Coordinate communication and meetings between investment teams and intermediaries, especially industry focused investment bankers
  • Ensure deal pipeline process and intermediary communication is managed from initial sourcing through deal decline or deal closing

Existing Platform Business Development

  • Design, implement, and execute on-going marketing campaigns
  • Attend industry trade shows and build relationships with prospective business-owners 

Other

  • Craft marketing materials that convey our unique approach to business building and M&A tailored to different stakeholder groups addressed above
  • Update the CRM used to manage our deal sourcing/relationship building process
  • Design, implement, and execute a deal sourcing/pipeline reporting and analytics system • Create marketing/press releases

Qualified individuals will possess the following skills and characteristics: 

  • 5 – 10 years of marketing, sales, business development, or deal origination experience
  • Passion to communicate our message broadly to the market
  • Poised and articulate with outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Relationship focused individual with an ability to develop trust quickly
  • Enjoy relationship building process
  • Strong project management skills including the ability to work independently
  • Desire to work in a metric driven environment

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 33% travel
  • Ability to travel internationally 

Position Requirements:
