Manufacturing Quality Engineer to support the United States Space Force Space (USSF), Systems Command (SSC) in executing the National Security Space Launch (NSSL) program in the
Cape Canaveral, FL area.
This role provides critical support across the NSSL program, deeply integrating into the manufacturing quality and readiness lifecycle of launch vehicles. Key responsibilities fall under Quality Engineering and Production Assurance, which involves ensuring supplier compliance with quality standards (e.g., AS9100), mitigating risks associated with non-conformances, Escapements, and Out of Position (OOP) work, and generating detailed reports on component-level quality and systemic issues. Furthermore, this position is essential to Launch Vehicle Flightworthiness Certification and Surveillance by performing audits, verifying "as-built" configurations, and consolidating surveillance reports from various disciplines into a final Article readiness report.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: - Integrate industry best practices in own area to achieve objectives .
- Analyze reports and defective products to determine trends and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with supplier representatives on quality problems, ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented and contributing to supplier quality improvement programs.
- Perform audits of the company, product, or processes as needed to validate concurrence with Quality, and identify current Quality ratings.
- Identify system defect escapements, analyze root causes, and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Develop checklists in accordance with engineering design and industry standards to perform Baseline Audits on Flight Critical Components and Processes that are new or encountered a level of change identified under AS9100.
Minimum Qualifications : - Engineering Degree majoring in Mechanical/Aerospace engineering or bachelor's degree in related STEM field (1.5 years relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of each 1 year of education/degree requirement).
- 10+ years as a Mechanical/Aerospace engineer in relevant fields with at least 3 years of aerospace quality or manufacturing engineering experience.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience involving manufacture of complex products, application of manufacturing principles and methods including product design, process design, producibility, process qualification/validation, product design requirements flow down to manufacturing.
- Degree, certification, or proven experience in quality engineering, manufacturing and production programs.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Products and AI platforms used for professional writing or data analysis.
- Experience with Delta, Atlas, Vulcan, Falcon (or similar) launch vehicle programs highly desired.
- Experience utilizing Jira for issue tracking and Confluence for collaborative knowledge sharing.
Clearance Requirements: - Active Secret clearance required to start
Physical Requirements: - M u st be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
