  • Initiate the design and procurement of tools and equipment needed for production.
  • Develop rework schemes to improve manufacturing outcomes.
  • Study and enhance manufacturing processes by monitoring quality and cycle times.
  • Collaborate with floor operators to implement process improvements.

Information on the division:

Located in Strongsville, the 110+ employee facility (100,000 sq. ft.) is one of Héroux-Devtek's centers of excellence for the final assembly of landing gear.

As part of the Central Division, you will lead P&L responsible for critical machining operations of major commercial aircraft programs such as the Boeing 777 and Embraer E-2, and important military programs such as F-18, F-35, C-17 and C-130.

Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for overall engineering for specific parts/projects throughout the manufacturing process, including all electroplating processes, grinding, honing, bushing installation, and paint.

Main responsibilities:
  • Formulating manufacturing process plans by using Bills of Material, Project Development Schedules, and Operation Detail Sheets.
    • Investigating the entry of the above into the MRP system - BaaN.
  • Reviewing Contract Review forms for accuracy to the quote.
  • Liaising with customers regarding part revision changes and informing pertinent departments by incorporating these changes into the Master Process Plan.
  • Initiating the design and purchase of fixtures, special tools and handling equipment required.
  • Developing rework schemes.
  • Studying and improving the manufacturing process by monitoring quality, cycle times and methods of operations.
  • Working with operators on the floor to develop solutions or process improvements.
  • Document & maintain traceability in accordance with all quality standards, such as AS9100 and NADCAP.


Our ideal candidate:
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing engineering environment. Preference in the aerospace industry.
  • Possess a solid foundation in manufacturing engineering practices and processes.
  • Computer software literacy. (Office, Catia V5, Microsoft Project)
  • Familiarity with BaaN or SAP a plus.
