Job Title: Manufacturing Manager

Location: Bedford, MA

Division: Photonics

Department: EM4 LLC

Position Description:

The Production Supervisor is a highly-motivated, innovative and hands-on individual who will use their skills to drive efficiency and encourage collaboration in a team environment. The successful candidate will lead a laser and photonics assembly site in a fast-paced and dynamic environment to meet contractual quality, cost, and delivery requirements by planning, organizing, and directing the flow of work. Achieving and exceeding quality, delivery, and safety goals are critical in this position, as are identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities using six sigma and lean methodologies to satisfy the unique requirements of aerospace, defense, life science, and industrial customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Actively leads continuous improvement efforts including 6S and safety audits.
  • Develop and constantly drive initiatives designed to improve the productivity of people and resources within the production environment
  • Escalate equipment, process problems and safety issues to the appropriate channels and technical counterparts for resolution
  • Execute production schedules and communicate status, priorities, and risks to operations management.
  • Manage employees time and attendance details
  • Mentor associates and develop training and qualification plans in accordance with production needs and QMS requirements.
  • Allocate and adjust qualified resources based on work-center capacity to meet production schedules and delivery commitments.
  • Processes ERP and database entries to ensure timely processing of jobs.
  • Initiates Engineering Change Requests to correct documentation and processes.
  • Completes employee performance evaluations.
  • Maintains the production environment to ensure the safety and wellbeing of team.
  • Assists Mfg. Engineering in production documentation generation.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • 5+ years experience in microelectronics or photonics manufacturer
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, manufacturing technology or equivalent work experience
  • Leadership history in a cleanroom-based, photonics environment.
  • Experience in photonics, lasers, microelectronics, or related industries
  • Excellent performance management skills
  • Communicator with strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Team leader and team builder able to lead by example and effectively develop others
  • Experience utilizing lean manufacturing concepts with a proven track record of lean / six sigma implementation projects
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, data analysis) and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Highly motivated self-starter, able to meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems in a regulated manufacturing environment.
