Manufacturing Manager

Job Description

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking a Manufacturing Manager (Level K) to support the 777-9 Roll Around team located in Everett, Washington.

The role is accountable for delivering safe, on‑time, high‑quality composite wing structures by leading people, processes, continuous improvement, and cross‑functional alignment with engineering, quality, planning, and suppliers. This role emphasizes a work-together leadership style: coaching, collaborating with teams, and removing barriers so team members can succeed.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage frontline employees performing composite wing fabrication activities including layup, infusion, cure cycles (autoclave/oven), trimming, assembly, and inspection
  • Develop and execute local business plans, work processes, and team strategies to meet 777X production objectives
  • Assign work, set priorities, manage staffing/shift handovers, and ensure training/certification of personnel against competency matrices
  • Provide technical oversight for manufacturing approaches and supplier-supplied tooling/parts; partner with engineering and quality to approve dispositions
  • Drive continuous improvement (Boeing Production System/BPS, 5S, kaizen, root cause analysis) to reduce scrap, cycle time, and cost while improving first‑pass yield
  • Track, analyze, and report KPIs across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Manufacturing; implement corrective actions and escalate as needed
  • Foster a safety-first culture aligned with Go for Zero / Incident Injury Free (IIF) principles; ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with program stakeholders, peers, engineering, planning, material, quality, and suppliers to resolve production issues and support program milestones
  • Coach, develop, and motivate direct reports through a work-together leadership style; facilitate problem solving, performance feedback, and career development

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross-functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course Exploring Leadership
  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace, fabrication, or manufacturing environments
  • 3+ years applying continuous improvement tools and techniques (BPS, 5S, kaizen, RCA)
  • 3+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions, and specifications
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office tools (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelors degree or higher
  • 3+ years of experience leading teams in a formal and/or informal leadership role
  • 3+ years of experience in lean processes and initiatives
  • 3+ years of experience in coaching, guiding and mentoring teams
  • 3+ years of experience in working to lead and develop teams to execute to safety, compliance, quality and cost
  • 3+ years of experience working within a cross-functional organizational environment

Shift:

This role is primarily 2nd shift; however, there may be additional shift requirements to support program objectives.
