Job Title: Manufacturing Engineering Technical Lead

Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 office days a week)

Working Location: Indianapolis, IN

Relocation assistance will be provided if applicable.

Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer - Technical Lead is a leadership role responsible for the technical development of the supplier, ensuring the component method of manufacture is both stable and capable and ensures the flow down of regulatory and product integrity requirements. The Manufacturing Engineer - Technical Lead will maintain and/or govern Technical Packages (technical instructions, programs, tooling, etc.) for all parts/assemblies which clearly define the manufacturing process and control manufacturing process change. You will also support the Supplier Management Team Manager for delivering Cost, Quality and Delivery objectives for the respective Supply Chain Unit. You must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.

What you will be doing:
  • Approving component airworthiness through the processing of critical data associated with component definition, associated specifications, and compliance to Rolls-Royce procedures
  • Subject to appropriate delegation, Chair the change authority.
  • Lead the technical input into the supply chain strategy, including ensuring that Commodity and Manufacturing Process strategy implications are included in relevant capital plans.
  • Integrate Capability Acquisition and Product Introduction activities, buying off new capabilities and methods of manufacture for new parts/assemblies.
  • Ensure new capabilities/methods are at the required level of readiness for production application.
  • Develop numerate, real-time methods for capturing process capability, and ensure it is available and acted on within the facility/supply chain and in new product design.
  • Working with the Manufacturing Engineering Commodity Leaders and Manufacturing Process Owners, drive manufacturing processes towards identified consistent best practice.
  • Lead technical problem resolution and technical improvement activities. Coach the community in the use of RRPS and DMAIC tools.


Basic Requirements:
  • Associate degree with 7+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience, OR
  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience, OR
  • Master's degree with 3+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience, OR
  • JD/PhD, OR
  • 9+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • In order to be eligible for consideration, you must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident


Preferred Requirements:
  • Demonstrated ability to discuss both technical and business issues with all levels of management within the supply chain and Rolls-Royce
  • Experience bringing diverse groups together to resolve technical issues and problems and perform root cause analysis
  • DMAIC Yellow and/or Green and/or Black Belt Certification
  • Understanding of metal removal and/or casting processing of Aerospace components
  • Knowledge of FAIR (First Article Inspection Report) processes
  • Practical knowledge of source/method change and classified parts control
  • General awareness of Manufacturing Systems (CAD, CAM, CAPP, Manufacturing Execution System, Manufacturing Intelligence, SAP, Technical Publications, etc.) relevant to the business.
  • Has led projects/activities across a range of Manufacturing Engineering processes
