Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join our team in
Dowling, Ontario. Reporting to the
Director of Operations, this role will lead and strengthen manufacturing engineering and quality functions while building the structure, processes, and team capabilities required to support product growth, manufacturability, production readiness, and continuous improvement. This position is ideal for a hands-on leader who can transform early-stage designs into scalable manufacturing solutions and drive excellence across quality, documentation, customer readiness, and site performance.This position is based in
Dowling, Ontario.
Responsibilities
As
Manufacturing Engineering Manager you will be responsible for these activities:
- Lead the manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, quality technician, and prototype teams supporting new and evolving products.
- Oversee design-to-production handoffs, ensuring products are manufacturable, documented, tested, controlled, and production ready.
- Serve as the technical bridge between engineering, quality, supply chain, production, and leadership to support buildability, process capability, quality planning, tooling, and operational readiness.
- Develop and improve manufacturing processes, work instructions, inspection plans, test procedures, training materials, and controlled documentation.
- Lead prototype, pilot build, first article, and first-time-build activities, capturing lessons learned and resolving design or documentation gaps before production release.
- Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), process risk reviews, feasibility assessments, tooling reviews, and production-readiness evaluations.
- Champion quality-focused practices including root cause analysis, corrective actions, inspection strategies, nonconformance reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify equipment, fixture, tooling, testing, and facility requirements to support manufacturing efficiency and scalability.
- Set team objectives aligned with product launches, operational goals, quality improvements, customer readiness, and site performance targets.
- Mentor and develop employees while fostering a culture of technical ownership, accountability, documentation discipline, safety, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, technical operations, prototype development, pilot production, or low-volume/high-mix manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams, assigning work, coaching employees, and driving accountability for manufacturability, quality, documentation, and production readiness.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, process controls, inspection planning, work instructions, test methods, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and controlled documentation.
- Experience supporting prototype builds, pilot production activities, process validation, tooling development, and new product introduction efforts.
- Proficiency working with engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), routings, quality records, manufacturing metrics, and corrective action systems.
- Practical experience applying Lean Manufacturing principles, DFM/DFA methodologies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to thrive and lead within a growing and evolving manufacturing operation.
Nice To Have:
- Experience within new product introduction (NPI), production readiness, engineering-to-order, job shop, or low-volume/high-mix manufacturing environments.
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, or other continuous improvement certifications.
- Experience scaling manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, or technical production support functions in a growth-oriented organization.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems, including auditing and compliance processes.
- Experience with electro-mechanical assemblies, vehicle integration, electronics, machining, fixture design, test equipment, or capital equipment projects.
- Project management, quality, engineering, or safety certifications such as PMP, CAPM, CQE, CMfgE, ASQ certifications, or related credentials.

- Ability to convert custom, prototype, or early-stage designs into repeatable and controlled manufacturing processes that can be reliably executed in production.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with the ability to align engineering, quality, production, supply chain, and leadership teams around priorities and readiness requirements.
- Strong leadership presence with a proven ability to mentor technical professionals, build team capability, and drive accountability and operational excellence.
- Practical problem-solving skills with expertise in identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, improving manufacturability, and increasing first-pass quality.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization abilities that balance daily operational support with longer-term process development and site growth initiatives.
