Job Title: Advanced Turbine Center - Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Working Pattern: Onsite

Working Location: Indianapolis, IN

The ATC (Advanced Turbine Center) Manufacturing Engineering Manager will act as the Technical Authority for the facility, holding accountability for all manufacturing engineering activities in the facility and through the supply chain. Developing a technical team, maturing enabling technologies, and transitioning from early development to fully industrialized methods are examples of the challenges ahead.

What you will be doing:
  • HSE - Responsible for ensuring that all manufacturing processes and methods of manufacture deployed within the area of accountability are in full compliance to Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm program.
  • Quality - Promote a culture of zero defects within the area of accountability. Ensure that manufacturing processes and methods of manufacture within the business and suppliers are developed and deployed to support Right First-Time manufacture. Coach the community in the use of RRPS, DMAIC and Systems Engineering tools. Ensure compliance to all relevant company, legislative and technical policies and standards.
  • Develop talent - Responsible for self-development to meet the required skills and behaviors for the role. Continuously seek to expand knowledge and experience to increase effectiveness in undertaking existing and new activities. Act as professional leader of the Manufacturing Engineering community within the area of accountability, ensuring required skills and behaviors are in place and promoting the development and growth of the community. Drive accountability and enablement through engagement and coaching team members, so that everyone can be at their best.
  • Planning - Deploy mechanisms to govern the achievement of Manufacturing Engineering deliverables, report status, and ensure issues and risks are resolved to meet project timescales. Manage Man Eng load/capacity plans and budgets.
  • Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing - Operate as an active member of the global Manufacturing Engineering leadership team, proactively supporting cross-Business collaboration, knowledge sharing, skills and process development to best utilize the available resources to deliver business needs and priorities,
  • Deploy capability - Maintain and/or govern Production Technical Packages (technical instructions, programs, tooling, etc.) which clearly define the manufacturing process. Ensure manufacturing processes and/or methods of manufacture within the business and suppliers are capable of meeting and continuing to meet requirements for quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time. Co-ordinate technical support to operations and suppliers such that problems and arisings are resolved in a structured and timely manner.
  • Technical Authority - Specify Manufacturing Engineering and process requirements and make technical decisions in relation to the area of accountability. Chair the Control Authority(s) governing change for area of accountability, subject to appropriate delegation.

Basic Requirements:
  • Associate degree Engineering with 7+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience, OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience, OR
  • Master's degree in Engineering with 3+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience, OR
  • PhD in Engineering, OR
  • 9+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience in lieu of a degree

Preferred Requirements:
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing work teams
  • Black Belt, Green Belt and Lean certification preferred
  • Experience with aerospace processes and material is desirable
  • Highly developed problem solving, leadership and organizational skills
  • Must be able to inspire, motivate, and develop workforce
  • Excellent team player, self-motivated and self-driven to deliver results
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate to all levels of the organization
