Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer - Mill/Turn CNC Process Owner

Working Pattern: Onsite 9/80

Working location: Indianapolis, IN

Relocation is available for this position if appropriate

Position Summary:

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen to join us as a Manufacturing Engineer owning CNC Mill/Turn processes. As the Manufacturing Engineer you will ensure effective control over the method of manufacture for critical rotating aerospace components. The position will work with state-of-the-art CNC equipment which is considered world class in the aerospace manufacturing sector.

In this role you will have the opportunity to work in tandem with our manufacturing team directly on the shop floor devising, implementing and testing new strategies to help optimize productivity. You will have a strong understanding of compliance and adhering to safety and quality standards and reporting to senior management about any findings or proposals.

What you will be doing:

  • Safety - Ensure that manufacturing processes are in full compliance to Health, Safety & Environmental Standards and meet the expectations of the Zero Harm Program. Ensure that manufacturing processes are capable of achieving and sustaining the design intent, and that processes are followed so that our products and those of our suppliers conform to their specification. Rigorously raise, investigate and resolve safety related issues.
  • Quality - Drive a culture of zero defects within the organization. Works with all functions to reduce risk and drive product Right First Time. Ensure compliance to all relevant company, legislative and technical policies and standards including RRMS, Export Control and Intellectual Property requirements.
  • Delivery - Identify and develop opportunities for new or improved manufacturing processes, digital systems, and technologies to meet current or future requirements. Develop, implement, validate, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing processes, digital systems and/or methods of manufacture which are capable of meeting and continue to meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time. Capture, analyze and use data to demonstrate and improve the current and future capability of manufacturing processes.
  • Cost - Working with the Manufacturing Engineering Commodity Leaders and Manufacturing Process Owners, drive manufacturing processes towards identified consistent best practice. Transform these manufacturing best practices to ensure the method of manufacture produces the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost to the business.
  • People - Work with interfacing teams and local experts to ensure technical aspects of manufacturing processes and digital systems are understood and accounted for as required. Capture and utilize lessons learnt. Identify, document and share best practice, including by participation in relevant Communities of Practice. Responsible for self-development to meet the required competencies for the role. Continuously seek to expand knowledge and experience to increase effectiveness in undertaking existing and new activities. Provides coaching and technical support to others within their area of competence.

Basic Requirements:

  • AAS degree in an engineering Discipline with 4+ years of experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering Discipline with 2+ years' experience OR
  • Master's in an Engineering Discipline OR
  • JD/PhD in an Engineering Discipline
  • In Lieu of a degree, 6+ years of relevant experience
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder


Preferred:
  • CNC programming experience with a concentration on Mill/Turn Machining and/or 5-axis machining for Ni-based Superalloys
  • Digital Manufacturing - 3D Modelling (NX), CAM (NX), Digital Twin (Vericut), Machine Optimization (3rd Wave). Systems provided are primary, but other systems are considered for read across.
  • Complex geometry component experience dealing with multiple stack dimensions across a wide value stream. High level of aptitude with GD&T.
  • Siemens 840D Control experience and associated macro-based programming
  • CNC in-process measurement using Renishaw or Blum cycles
