Full Job Description
Purpose of Position: Responsible for complex engineering projects involving the development of manufacturing methods and processes to produce company product lines. Investigate, establish and implement requirements for equipment, tooling, materials and methods of manufacturing, including make or buy decisions and facility layout as required for new or revised products, from pilot runs through normal production. Work with supervisors/managers and other engineering teams. Investigate and recommend alternatives to product designs.

Summary of Essential Job Functions:
  • Draft and maintenance of exploded view drawings for product assembly.
  • Implement design changes of existing products for manufacturability.
  • Daily production support, troubleshooting electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Tracking and closing out manufacturing issues, identified by production team.
  • Perform root cause analysis on failing components and assemblies to eliminate failure modes.
  • Add feedback to sustainment type design updates and/or improvements.
  • Manage production work instructions, subassembly acceptance test procedures and other production facing documentation.
  • Design manufacturing fixtures to speed assembly process.
  • Collaborate with quality team to contain and correct non-conforming parts or assemblies when found in context of build.
  • Collaborate with procurement and suppliers to improve part manufacturability and quality.
  • Assist in the administration and improvement of the engineering change process.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience in manufacturing engineering field, required.
  • Knowledge of engineering theories, concepts and practices to resolve difficult or unusual issues.
  • Knowledge in processes, procedures, technology or software.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of SolidWorks.
  • Experience with mechanical design and drawings in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience designing machined parts.


Physical Demands of Position:
  • Physically able to lift up to 20 pounds (materials/equipment)
  • Effective use of computer, laptop, cell phone and other mobile device to exchange information.
