Job Description:DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer - Service & Repair, located in Palm Beach Gardens, FL
Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopedics business to establish a standalone orthopedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. Key Responsibilities:- This role provides engineering support for service and repair operations for robotics, power tools, and capital equipment with responsibilities for process development, tooling, workflow optimization, continuous improvement, and other activities that improve repair quality, efficiency, and reliability. The position provides technical direction for equipment and tooling design, development, and validation; evaluates materials; prepares specifications, repair procedures, and technician instructions; conducts process studies, investigations, root cause analysis, and problem solving; and develops technical reports and presentations. Assignments are designed to strengthen professional knowledge and capabilities through the application of standard engineering techniques, project management, statistical analysis, data presentation, and technical writing across a range of related service and repair initiatives.
- Lead engineering projects and cross-functional initiatives that improve service and repair quality, efficiency, cost, and operational performance.
- Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, status reports, and management communications to ensure objectives are achieved.
- Lead investigations and corrective actions related to nonconformances, complaints, audit observations, and CAPAs.
- Provide day-to-day technical support for repair processes, equipment, tooling, inspection, testing, and technician troubleshooting.
- Develop and execute engineering studies, process validations, test method validations, and supporting reports.
- Identify and implement process improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, and other appropriate engineering methods.
- Design and implement fixtures, gauges, tooling, measurement systems, and inspection methods that support repair operations.
- Support equipment acquisition, including requirements development, selection, installation, validation, and employee training.
- Develop and maintain repair, inspection, and equipment procedures and technician work instructions.
- Partner with Service and Repair Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Product Development, and external vendors.
- Ensure compliance with applicable quality, safety, environmental, regulatory, and company requirements.
- Communicate operational risks, issues, and improvement opportunities to management and perform other related duties as required.
QualificationsEducation: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent University degree is required; a focused degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field is preferred.
Experience and Skills:Required: - Relevant professional work experience
- Manufacturing and/or engineering experience.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Minitab, and database applications.
- Strong organizational and project management skills with a results-oriented approach.
- Positive interpersonal skills and professional interactions with coworkers.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
Preferred:- Previous experience in a regulated industry, preferably medical devices.
- Six Sigma or Lean Sigma certification, or two years of related experience, preferred.
- Previous experience with assembly or repair process
- Previous experience with process validation execution
- Project management experience or certification
Other:- May require up to 10% domestic and/or international travel to other sites and locations.
