Job Description

We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Engineer - Senior to join our team specializing in manufacturing for our Cummins' business in Columbus, IN.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
  • Drive high-quality product decisions by integrating input from cross-functional stakeholders and supplier partners
  • Advance project timelines by making informed, timely decisions on daily engineering and testing activities
  • Improve product reliability by proactively identifying risks and mitigating failure modes early in development
  • Strengthen engineering processes through effective use of ESW, iDFMEA, FIRG, and structured problem-solving tools
  • Lead ownership of components or smaller projects, ensuring accountability for quality, scope, and delivery
  • Enhance cross-functional coordination to ensure seamless execution across engineering and manufacturing disciplines
  • Develop and refine work processes to increase efficiency, consistency, and overall product quality
  • Mentor and guide junior team members and technicians to elevate team capability and knowledge sharing


Responsibilities

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
  • Strong ability to execute product development from concept through validation while managing risk, requirements, and system integration
  • Demonstrated skill in identifying and resolving complex product issues through structured, data-driven problem solving
  • Proficiency in applying systems thinking, modeling, and analysis to influence design decisions and product outcomes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to drive alignment and results across teams


Qualifications

Education, Licenses, Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Key Competencies:
  • 3-5 years in manufacturing engineering, or relevant field, with demonstrated success in process improvement, capital project involvement, and leading engineering initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and GD&T
  • Apply advanced engineering tools and methodologies such as FMEA, validation planning, and simulation to guide design and verify product capability
  • Utilize technical documentation, engineering drawings, and configuration management practices to maintain product integrity across the lifecycle
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of mechanical systems, controls integration, and system-level interactions to deliver robust designs
  • Collaborate effectively across functions while building strong internal and external networks to accelerate execution
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences, enabling informed decision making and alignment
  • Exhibit strong decision quality, adaptability, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Show resourcefulness in solving problems, optimizing processes, and securing the support needed to achieve results
  • Value diverse perspectives and foster an inclusive, collaborative team environment that drives innovation and performance
    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with equipment procurement
  • Experience with managing Capex projects
  • Familiarity with Fanuc HandlingTool or ArcTool
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks

  • Support VPI launch activities
  • Lead improvement projects impacting safety, quality, and throughout
    This role is designated as 100% onsite and may require up to 10% travel.
