Description

Responsibilities

The Manufacturing Engineer is a full-time, exempt position. This position will require a broad range of responsibilities to ensure production continuity and critical engineering support for all released manufacturing products, providing synchronized technical oversight alongside peer engineers.

Some examples of these responsibilities are listed below (but are not limited to the following):

Engineering Change Execution:
• Process Engineering Change Requests (ECR) initiated by Engineering or Manufacturing and convert them into Engineering Change Notifications (ECN).
• Update all technical documentation for released products, including component specifications, schematics, PCB layouts, mechanical assembly drawings, and wire lists.

Obsolescence & Technical Updates:
• Resolve component shortages and obsolescence for active production.
• Verify the in-product or virtual fitting to ensure new component selections maintain clearance and alignment within the final assembly.

Technical Redesign & PCB Development:
• Perform the necessary PWB redesigns, revise schematics, compile netlists, and update PCB assembly (CCA) drawings.
• Work closely with engineering to ensure that approved footprints and models are used from the vault.
• Verify all electronic changes within a 3D SolidWorks model to ensure proper sheet metal alignment and check for mechanical interferences.
• Generate updated 2D (dwg) CCA assembly drawings and final 2D (dwg) mechanical assembly drawings.
• Verify the in-product or virtual fitting to ensure new component selections maintain clearance and alignment within the final assembly.

Regulatory Compliance Support:
• Ensure all engineering changes and component substitutions maintain compliance with regulatory agency requirements, specifically regarding Safety standards (e.g., UL/IEC) and EMI/EMC mitigation to avoid impacts on existing certifications.

Assembly Instruction Development:
• Develop comprehensive, step-by-step assembly instructions by process photography and /or 3D virtual models and renderings.

Advanced Testing & Tooling:
• Improve the testability of released products by adapting them to modern testing concepts, such as Bed-of-Nails and Flying Probe testing.
• Create design-for-test (DFT) modifications of PWB and CCA, including adding or repositioning test pads to align with manufacturing process and testing machine requirements.

Operations & ERP Support:
• Maintain the integrity of ERP Syteline CSI and Doc-Trak by updating all production-related engineering data. Support Purchasing, Production, and Incoming Inspection with technical inquiries regarding component matters and non-conformance resolution.
• Partner with peer engineers to optimize SMT, Through-Hole, and ATE lines; implement DFM principles to consolidate part counts and automate manual operations for cost efficiency.

Systems Used
• Solid Works, 3D/2D, Solid Works PDM
• AutoCAD
• Altium Designer (schematic/PCN/Footprint Creation)
• Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, PPT, Excel)
• CSI
• UKG
• Doc-Trak

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electro-mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering, or related field. Associate degree combined with significant equivalent work experience will also be considered.
• 2-5 years of experience in electronics manufacturing or production engineering supporting power operations
• Experience working with power supply, electromechanical assembly and test activities preferred.
• Experience with In-Circuit Testing (ICT), Bed-of-Nails fixture design, and Flying Probe methodologies.
• Experience in electro-mechanical assembly (Through-hole, SMT, Chassis mount, cable harnesses) and experienced in troubleshooting manufacturing process of moderate to high complexity power supplies in an ISO9000 environment.
• Practical, hands-on ability to perform first-article rework, including soldering/de-soldering of components and mechanical modifications to validate engineering changes before full production release.
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and adapt to a fast-paced work environment.
• Knowledge of Safety and EMI/EMC requirements and their application in power electronics manufacturing.
