Full Job Description
Job Description

The Manufacturing Engineer designs, develops, and optimizes manufacturing processes to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production of complex capital equipment and mechanical systems. This role serves as the technical bridge between Design Engineering and shop floor operations, ensuring products are manufacturable, scalable, and delivered on schedule.

Through process innovation, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement, this role drives operational efficiency, product reliability, and successful deployment of manufacturing technologies supporting high-complexity, low-volume equipment manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

Manufacturing Process Development & Optimization
Primary Skills: Manufacturing Engineering • Process Design • Tooling & Methods Improvement • Continuous Improvement
  • Evaluate existing and proposed manufacturing processes supporting the fabrication, machining, coating, assembly, and testing of complex capital equipment and engineered products to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and manufacturability
  • Conduct time studies and process evaluations to establish labor standards, optimize cycle times, and improve process flow, output, and resource utilization.
  • Provide manufacturability input during product development to ensure design intent can be effectively translated into repeatable and cost-effective production processes.
  • Provide technical expertise in fabrication, machining, coating, and assembly processes commonly utilized in high-complexity, low-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Lead value engineering and design-for-manufacturing initiatives to reduce cost, improve manufacturability, and enhance product performance throughout the product lifecycle.

Product Support & Technical Manufacturing Interface

Primary Skills: Cross-Functional Collaboration • Technical Communication • Design for Manufacturability • Problem-Solving
  • Serve as the technical liaison between Design Engineering and manufacturing operations, ensuring products are produced to specification and according to schedule.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material, and product requirements to identify manufacturing risks, production constraints, and improvement opportunities.
  • Provide hands-on technical support on the shop floor to troubleshoot issues, resolve production constraints, and ensure adherence to engineering and process standards.
  • Train and guide technicians and operators during first-article builds, pilot runs, and implementation of new or revised manufacturing processes.
  • Partner with suppliers and internal stakeholders, as needed, to assess materials, fabrication methods, and component manufacturability.

Quality, Reliability & Continuous Improvement

Primary Skills: Quality Assurance • Root Cause Analysis • Failure Analysis • Lean Manufacturing
  • Establish and improve manufacturing standards, inspection methods, and testing approaches to ensure product and process quality.
  • Analyze manufacturing issues, defects, and failures to identify root causes and implement corrective or preventive actions that improve reliability and performance.
  • Contribute to product quality and reliability initiatives through process improvements, standardization, and engineering-driven problem solving.
  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to reduce waste, improve first-pass yield, and drive measurable improvements in safety, quality, and productivity.

Engineering Change Management

Primary Skills: Change Control • Configuration Management • Impact Assessment • Execution Planning
  • Create Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and support the generation, review, and implementation of Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs).
  • Manage the deployment of engineering changes across production, inventory, work-in-progress, and fielded aftermarket parts, ensuring timely and controlled implementation.
  • Assess change impacts and recommend disposition plans for affected materials, assemblies, and products to minimize disruption and cost exposure.
  • Support configuration consistency and traceability throughout the manufacturing lifecycle.
