Position Summary

Reporting to the SHADOWLAB Senior Principal Systems Engineer, Electromagnetics and Cyber Group (EM&C), and supporting Metrea's overall engineering efforts, the Manufacturing Engineer will join our busy team specializing in state-of-the-art military communications and signals intelligence products. All our teams operate in a small agile environment which allows our engineering personnel to work independently on a wide variety of systems and products. Our mix of product development and R&D also provides our engineering staff with a constant flow of new and interesting projects.
What You'll Do
  • Develop, review, and maintain mechanical designs, drawings, assemblies, and manufacturing documentation to support prototype and production builds
  • Create and improve manufacturing processes, assembly instructions, work instructions, tooling, fixtures, and test support equipment
  • Support design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly reviews to improve producibility, reduce cost, and increase product reliability
  • Work with cross-functional teams including electrical, software, quality, supply chain, and production personnel to resolve design and manufacturing issues
  • Investigate nonconformances, production defects, supplier issues, and test failures, then support corrective actions and process improvements
  • Support transition of products from engineering development into production, including BOM reviews, material readiness, build planning, and production troubleshooting
What You Bring
  • Experience with mechanical design, CAD modeling, engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and product documentation
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, assembly methods, tooling, fixtures, materials, and design-for-manufacturing principles
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional engineering environment with strong problem-solving, documentation, communication, and root-cause analysis skills

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time exempt position with typical working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours and work shifts may change in accordance with department and business needs. Exempt Employees must have the ability to be on-call and available, as business needs require.
Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical office and laboratory setting.
Travel

Up to 10% travel is expected for this role.
