Responsibilities

  • Deliver manufacturing quality operating system requirements for the subsystem
  • Collaborate with product development team on costs, quality, and labor reduction
  • Evaluate feasibility of new model designs using virtual tools for high volume operations
  • Write, modify, and maintain process sheets; deliver updated cycle line layouts
  • Lead the identification and resolution of assembly and machining feasibility issues
  • Create and maintain master schedules for the design, build, and tooling implementation
  • Lead installation, startup, and commissioning of machining and tooling at manufacturing sites
  • Document 'Lessons Learned' from new model launches and implement actions for future programs
  • Support safety, quality, delivery, cost, people, morale, environment, and innovation initiatives
  • Interface with cross-functional activities spanning product development and logistics

In this position...

The candidate will be responsible for the specification, design, validation, runoff, installation, and launch of new and existing machining systems that produce engine and transmission components. These may include cylinder heads, cylinder blocks, transmission cases and other largely aluminum components. The candidate will work with a team of engineers and interact regularly with plant operations personnel and suppliers. They will be responsible for element sof the process including tooling, gauging, and overall process documentation.

Responsibilities

In this position...
  • Deliver Manufacturing Delivery Quality Operating System requirements for your specific Subsystem.
  • Collaborate with Product Development team to generate facility & tooling costs, improve quality, and reduce labor requirements.
  • Use virtual tools to evaluate the feasibility of new model designs for high volume manufacturing operations.
  • Write/modify/maintain process sheets and deliver updated Cycle Line Layouts.
  • Lead identification, resolution, and closure of Assembly and Machining feasibility issues.
  • Create and follow a master schedule for the design, build, and implementation of tools in your subsystem.
  • Lead machining and tooling installation, start-up, and commissioning at the manufacturing site. In addition, support tooling buyoffs @ vendor facilities.
  • Lead identification, resolution, and closure of all launch product and tooling issues.
  • Develop "Lessons Learned" from New Model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs.
  • Support Department Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Morale, Environment, and Innovation (SQDCPMEI) initiatives.
  • Interface with cross-functional activities (Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning & Logistics, New Model Programs).


Qualifications

You'll have...
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, Or equivalent work experience
  • Min of 1+ years of relevant experience in Manufacturing
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to support launch programs on extended travel
  • Strong Project Management skills and result-oriented mindset
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • 3D CAD review abilities (Teamcenter, VisMockup, CATIA, or equivalent)
  • Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles
  • Strong verbal & written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to operate in stressful situations within timing constraints
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision


Even better, you may have...

  • Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, GD&T etc.)
  • Knowledge in the following Ford software systems: AVBOM, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, E2KS, AIM, CPARS
  • Automotive Manufacturing Engineering experience preferred but not mandatory
  • Experience w/automotive assembly or machining tooling, processes and facilities preferred but not mandatory
  • Experience in one or more of the following automotive systems: Interior, Exterior, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, Water test, End of Line, Stator/Rotor Manufacturing, Machining, Cell Manufacturing, and Battery Assembly
  • Error proofing

This position is a salary grade 6-8 and ranges from $72,480-162,120.,

Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
