Gemstar is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join the team at our location in Cannon Falls, MN! The position is responsible for providing engineering support to the manufacturing plants, managing the accuracy of engineering documentation, and ensuring that the company is leveraging the appropriate level of technology in production processes.. Wage Range: USD $93,000.00 - $116,000.00 per Year Location: Cannon Falls, MN Type: Full Time - On-site Schedule: 5/8 hour days (Monday through Friday) Travel: Up to 5% A day in the life of a Manufacturing Engineer II for Gemstar includes: - Assists in overseeing engineering processes and process changes/improvements as required. - Assists with quality testing, and engineering standards for the various product lines. - Provides project leadership required for the introduction of new manufacturing processes and relocation of the existing production processes. - Assists in the part design, tooling design and procurement of tooling for new and existing products. - Participates in team approach for Single-Minutes Exchange of Die (SMED). - Assists in training of the operators on new equipment and processes. - Develops LEAN principles in all manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, cost, and delivery. - Participates in new product design and manufacturing techniques. - Participates in the root cause analysis and resolution of quality and productivity issues. - Listens to employee feedback to identify quality and continuous improvement ideas. - Reviews and executes Engineering Change Requests. - Other duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities - Project management including establishing and maintaining project timelines with minimum direct supervision. - Analytical Skills - need to be able to identify areas of low efficiency and work to provide improvements. - Lean Manufacturing Skills - must be able to identify and eliminate waste within the system and lead lean events and projects. - Quality Assurance and Control Skills - ability to provide knowledge of manufacturing process capabilities and limits. - Effective Communication Skills - will work with manufacturing employees at all levels and need to be able to effectively explain the relevant points of equipment to each. Also needed for successful project management. - Technical Skills - must be able to work with different technology to provide a solution that produces the required result in the most efficient way possible. - Commercial Awareness - must keep the "bigger picture" in mind at all times when considering each step of the manufacturing process. - Problem Solving Skills - take a concept of a process and establish the equipment needed to make it happen. - Organizational Abilities - should be able to priorities tasks, set schedules and work between different projects to achieve overall business goals. Education and Experience - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - 4+, years of experience in a manufacturing environment - Demonstrated outstanding performance in current role Preferred Qualifications - Experience in plastics design or manufacturing environment- rotational molding, thermoforming, or extrusion experience - Experience with Automation, Fanuc TP/UI, or other experience - Basic understanding of programming languages etc. C++, Visual Basic & Ladder Logic This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
