About the RoleWe are seeking a dynamic Manufacturing Engineer to join our Operations team at Blue Origin. This role will lead the design and implementation of efficient manufacturing systems, ensure stringent quality control throughout production, and optimize supply chain logistics specific to Production/Operations. The ideal candidate will be results-driven, skilled in resource management, and committed to high-quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance production timelines. By leveraging advanced technologies and methodologies, you will contribute to improving manufacturing techniques, ensuring Blue Origin's continued innovation and excellence in aerospace engineering.

On the MK2 Crew Systems team, you will own the manufacturing of the hardware that makes the vehicle livable and operable for its crew - partnering with the design and responsible engineers who conceive it to carry a product from concept all the way to the flight units that fly. It's open-ended, hands-on, dev-to-production work.

Key Responsibilities- Take an assigned crew-systems product from concept through production readiness - planning Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs) and assessing Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRLs) and Production Readiness Levels (PRLs).
- Provide Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) support, partnering with design and responsible engineers to influence designs early for producibility.
- Translate engineering requirements into robust, repeatable manufacturing processes.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, tool designs, and inspection plans.
- Support the build of development and flight units, resolving process and hardware issues on the floor and capturing lessons learned.
- Support root cause analysis of process or product non-conformances; develop and implement corrective actions that enhance reliability and performance.
- Participate in process FMEAs, risk assessments, and validation of new production lines and equipment.
- Ensure all work aligns with applicable quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001), supporting a safe and sustainable future in space.
- Identify and integrate automation and digital tools into daily ME operations to eliminate non-value-added tasks.
- Lead cross-functional manufacturing engineering, coordinating across Design, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering (other relevant fields may apply) from an accredited university
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or process engineering role
- 1+ years of experience creating English work instructions
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify and resolve manufacturing risks and drive process improvements
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience manufacturing crewed-spacecraft or human-rated hardware - or human-in-the-loop systems where the equipment is used directly by people.
- Hands-on fabrication and assembly experience in aerospace applications, and taking hardware from development into production (NPI).
- Understanding of manufacturing readiness frameworks (MRLs, PRLs) and industry standards (AS6500 or similar).
- Proficiency with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Manufacturing Execution System (MES) tools (e.g., Teamcenter, Windchill).
- Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing, including GD&T, and a foundation in DFM/DFA.
- Experience working with Bill-of-materials (BOM) and BOM reconciliation.
- Experience with AI/ML technologies, data analytics tools, or digital manufacturing platforms.
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing, root-cause/corrective-action, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on collaboration across teams, customers, and suppliers.
- An attitude of world-class mission assurance, quality, attention to detail, and dedication.
Base Pay Range for:
WA applicants is $91,852.00 - $128,592.45
