Chipton-Ross is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer 4 for a contract opportunity in Canoga Park, CA.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This position will be responsible for mechanical component manufacture assembly and integration into rocket engine and power systems products. Responsibilities include designing and planning of layout component fabrication, assembly and material handling, planning of sequence of operations, and specification procedures.
  • The scope of responsibility will be for several mechanical components or as a process engineer supporting new and developing process that could be utilized on all programs within AR, with the potential to acquire greater responsibility as performance and experience dictate.


  • The manufacturing engineer work is performed with general oversight. May manage large projects or processes that are both inside and outside of immediate job area. Typically responsible for providing guidance, coaching and training to other employees. Typically responsible for managing complex projects at this level, involving delegation of work and review of work products.


  • The manufacturing engineer communicates within and outside of own function or business area and has responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization (e.g., customers, vendors, etc.) when necessary. Explains, interprets, and gains cooperation on policies, procedures and practices.


  • The manufacturing engineer work consists of making moderate to substantial improvement or enhancements to systems and processes to improve performance of job area. Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are complex and may require comprehensive information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem. Problems typically involve consideration of multiple issues, job areas or specialties. Problems are generally solved through creative solutions, drawing from prior experience and in-depth analysis of issues.


  • The manufacturing engineer works to achieve operational targets with direct impact on the departmental results. Contributes to the development of goals for the department and planning efforts (budgets, operational plans, etc.).


  • Developing/Designing Manufacturing Hardware processes and Review Engineering Drawings: The candidate will utilize design and business software (ProE, CATIA, and/or other similar CAD/virtual manufacturing tools/software, MS Office applications such as Word, Excel) to develop, design, review and fabricate hardware in support of the Operation and enabling support processes, and Engineering customer.
  • Developing and Implementing Manufacturing Fabrication and Assembly Processes and Systems.
  • The candidate will develop and implement the process of precision turning operation and welding of complex configurations on a wide range of material types which will include the following:


  • Determining tooling requirements to safely facilitate optimum positioning of surfaces for machining, cleaning, packaging and protection for the milling process, support and maintain dimensional requirements, determine machine loading, setups, hardware handling instructions and scheduling.


REQUIRED EDUCATION

  • Accredited Bachelor's Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

  • Full-Time
  • 9/80 work schedule
  • 1st Shift
