Manufacturing Design & Tooling Supervisor

Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM-3:30 PM

Manufacturing Maintenance Solutions (MMS) is seeking a Manufacturing Design & Tooling Supervisor to lead a small team while driving the design, development, and improvement of lifting devices, tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes within a heavy industrial environment.

This role is ideal for an experienced leader with CAD design experience and a background in fabrication, welding, blacksmithing, forging, or industrial manufacturing. What You'll Do
Team Leadership & Supervision
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of employees within the department
  • Serve as a role model and trusted resource for team members
  • Manage employee schedules and workforce planning
  • Approve timecards and PTO requests
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and provide ongoing employee coaching
  • Participate in leadership meetings and help drive departmental goals
  • Create a positive, accountable, and safety-focused work environment
Engineering & Design
  • Receive and coordinate lifting device and tooling requests from customers and internal departments
  • Design and develop lifting devices, tooling, fixtures, and specialized equipment utilizing CAD software
  • Create and maintain engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation
  • Ensure all designs meet safety, quality, and operational requirements
  • Support project planning, equipment layouts, and implementation activities
Manufacturing Support
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes
  • Support forging, fabrication, welding, and metalworking operations through practical engineering solutions
  • Evaluate existing equipment and recommend improvements to enhance safety, productivity, and quality
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing challenges and implement effective corrective actions
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the facility
  • Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, contractors, and facility leadership


Requirements

What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • 1-3+ years of CAD/design experience
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience
  • Experience managing employee schedules, approving timecards, coordinating time-off requests, and conducting employee evaluations
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing lifting devices, tooling, fixtures, or industrial equipment
  • Knowledge and practical application of CAD software within an industrial manufacturing environment
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar CAD platforms
  • Experience with CMMS or maintenance management software
Industry Experience
  • 3-5+ years of manufacturing, fabrication, blacksmithing, forging, welding, or industrial maintenance experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of fabrication methods
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create technical drawings and engineering specifications
  • Knowledge of forging operations, metal forming, fabrication, and welding processes
  • Blacksmithing, fabrication, metalworking, and welding experience is highly preferred
