Full Job Description
MANTECH seeks a highly talented Manufacturing and Refurbishment Lead Engineer with experience related to Launch Vehicle (LV) systems. To help the Space Force redefine the future of National Security Space Launch (NSSL). This position is based in Cape Canaveral, FL.

This position will support the United States Space Force (USSF) System Delta 80 New Entrant Launch Operations Division.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Leading and mentoring a team of senior-level manufacturing and refurbishment engineers to provide manufacturing oversight of flight products, processes, Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) facility readiness, and Launch Service Provider (LSP) design changes (including hardware configurations and engineering change orders).
  • Leveraging technical expertise to ensure LSP build compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) command media, processes, and drawings, while briefing artifacts on AS6500 or Quality issues and recommending enhancements to the U.S. Space Force to achieve AS9100 compliance.
  • Serving as a primary technical contributor and team mentor during government gate elements-including Non-Recurring Design Validation Review Boards (NRBs), Chief Engineer Review Boards (ChERBs), and Engineering Review Boards (ERBs)-by providing critical inputs during status and technical meetings.
  • Coordinating with a multi-disciplined team of contractors, vendors, FFRDCs, and Space Force stakeholders in a dynamic, mission-critical environment to support functional SE&I management and ensure favorable customer resolutions on contracted tasking.
  • Developing, delivering, and briefing accurate weekly and monthly engineering product reports, metrics, and nonconformance reports to the U.S. Space Force customer to ensure timeliness and data integrity.
  • Utilizing enterprise collaboration and data tools-including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, SharePoint, Excel, Confluence, and Jira-for data analysis, workflow management, and creating high-quality management briefings to support NSSL mission readiness.
  • Collaborating effectively within a team environment, maintaining exceptional customer communications, and providing 24/7 on-call support to the U.S. Space Force during active launch campaigns when requested.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in systems, mechanical, aerospace engineering, or other related STEM fields.
  • 12+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, aerospace manufacturing, launch vehicles, or related technical roles.
  • 3 + years of experience with military reuse space program processes OR 3 years experience in life cycle of reuse launch vehicle hardware or 3 years' experience in FAA flight maintenance reuse programs can substitute.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience supporting SSC, or other U.S. Government space organizations.
  • Familiarity with launch vehicle design, production and reuse, systems processing, and operational workflows.
  • Proven track record of success in LSP manufacturing oversight roles and mission support execution.
  • Experienced self-starter and independent thinker with strong knowledge of key characteristics on major LSP critical end item assemblies in a launch vehicle production cycle.
  • Knowledge/experience in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) processes: X-Ray, Phase Array, Friction Stir Welding, Composite Forming processes, Avionics Board Assembly and Automated Optical Inspections (AOI).


Clearance Requirements:
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
