Description

This role will report directly to the SVP of Operations, and includes hands-on job training, the opportunity for cross-training, diversified professional development, and career growth within MyLand.

This full-time in person role is based in Phoenix, AZ and includes regular travel to field sites, with occasional weekends or extended hours.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the go-to technical expert on MyLand's proprietary system hardware (algae production units, application/injection systems, and associated field equipment


  • Travel to field sites (estimated up to 25% travel) to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and system-level issues


  • Translate field findings into permanent engineering fixes - redesigning components, updating specifications, and closing out root causes


  • Support manufacturing by improving build quality, assembly processes, and equipment reliability across MyLand's system configurations


  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and preventative maintenance protocols for field and manufacturing teams


  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Ag Science, Algae Lab, Biological Innovations, Procurement, and Field Operations to align engineering solutions with system performance goals


  • Partner with Procurement and outside vendors/fabricators on parts sourcing, component design, and cost-effective manufacturing solutions


  • Support new product/system rollouts, including field pilots and design validation


  • Track recurring field issues and failure modes; drive continuous improvement initiatives and root-cause analysis


  • Perform tasks that meet department KPIs and proactively problem-solve issues as they arise


  • Serve as point of contact for assigned engineering projects, tracking execution against timeline and driving projects to completion


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Agricultural, or related engineering discipline required
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, ideally spanning both field troubleshooting and manufacturing or product design
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose problems on-site and translate them into long-term engineering solutions
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical/controls systems, or fluid/irrigation systems (any combination welcomed)
  • Experience with CAD or similar design software preferred
  • Comfortable reading schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent research, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work autonomously or as part of a cross-functional team
  • Ability to work outside under high heat, stand, walk, kneel, stoop, and/or sit at a desk for extended periods
  • Ability to move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Travel up to 25% of the time
  • Valid driver's license
